Tanuki Raw & Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh

Had lunch at Tanuki Raw with Hazel one day. Lunch prices are so affordable we bought 3. We weren’t very good at finishing them all though 😦
I got the yakitori don because chicken and mushrooms πŸ™‚
Delicious as always, although the name was misleading.
She got the chirashi don. I didn’t try some because I still can’t appreciate sashimi T_T
She gave me an egg slice though. I think she was trying to win my affection. Or it could be a birthday present. I hope it’s not the latter because I’d really prefer a whole tub of tiramisu instead.
This truffle yakiniku don was ordered because she was like “aiya I forgot I wanted to eat the beef too” or something like that.
Looked damn good and tastes great. But I couldn’t eat much because it was too raw for my liking. Same goes for the onsen egg. So I just ate my delicious chicken :>
I know it’s like Tanuki RAW but I thought that was because they had raw oysters .___. Or maybe not. I don’t know…
Surprise wasabi always surprises me but I love it. Anyway, the lotus root chip was yummy. I don’t usually try to put lotus root into my mouth at all.

Then we went shopping. Supposedly went looking for windows, but I got cosmetics because birthday month means 2X points .___. how to not?? I also made her buy stuff to bump up my points. Sorry. But thanks.
So Nars Gilda is awesome. I can just lightly tap a brush on it and it picks up quite a bit of powder, and when I put it on my face, I’m like shit! shit! too much!!! cos it really is too much. Then I’d look more like dying from exercise than healthy glowing. But it’s a pretty colour and now I know not to press it into my skin like I did other blushers.
Anyway, I love it plenty. I guess you could say it’s Baemax.

Dinner was at Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh, where I’ve been wanting to try ever since people told me about it but I have no idea where it might be (other than “it’s near Zouk”), especially when no one can remember its name and call it the one with the yellow and red signboard. Thanks ah.
Soup and you tiao is super shiok!! But the meat could work on being more tender. I mean I am using a Kodomo Soft & Slim toothbrush (for years) (they’re meant for kids 6-9 years old) (I’m 20 now) because it is the most gentlest little baby that doesn’t try to hurt anybody. Ya so I need my meat tender. But it’s good, and when I get older and have the feel for midnight bak kut teh, this is a total go-to πŸ˜€

Days before I went to have dinner at The French Table because it looks good!!
I got confit de canard with no-chilli aglio olio linguine because looks and sounds good.
Portion is humongous
but I didn’t like anything on the plate T_T it’s just nah…
Truffle fries smelled wonderful. But eating it reminds me of Tenderfresh’s fries. No truffle taste.
The service was so darn good and reviews online for this place are sparkle sparkle. WHY???? T____T
Maybe one day I might give it another shot. Just maybe. T__T

The Missing Pan

Went to The Missing Pan on Deepavali because mummy suggested it and I’m not turning down free brunch πŸ˜€
The other time we were here we missed the brunch menu T_T
But now that I’ve eaten this, I kind of need to return.
Soy flat white!
Coffee smells great but with soy it tasted quite strange.
I shouldn’t randomly soy my coffees next time…

I didn’t want to post my food on Instagram until I had the photos from my camera but then the plate sort of instructed me to lol…
I ordered the French toast salpicon and it’s the most splendid fusion of savoury and sweet in a dish ever.
Fruits were all really fresh and they had goreng pisang (they call it banana nuggets awwwww ^_^) to win my heart over lol…
Strawberry-smoked maple syrup tasted unboring and it’s not super sweet and super thick like other maple syrups. LIKEZ.
French toast was great!! I hate those places with French toast with barely-there eggs man.
Inside I found chicken, spinach and mushrooms and they’re so tasty ;___;
Couldn’t taste much of the spinach though… but the others more than make up for it.
Omg the chicken.
I want to eat this every other day man…
The boss, Grace (whom I remember from a birthday party during my internship) asked me about it and all I replied was “It’s good.”
Lol I am so sorry… I think she expected more but here’s the more now…

Then she recommended the rosemary focaccia which I was staring at a lot.
Bought it and it was humongous.
Tossed the last third away today because it’s been 4-5 days and I don’t know how long it’d last.

Smells really good and it’s a pity I was too… lazy to heat it up before making my sandwiches.

One day I made a sandwich with eggs and only eggs because I had no other stuff at home .___.

Another day I made a sandwich with ham and tomato slices πŸ˜€ HAM πŸ˜€
8 slices πŸ˜€

And this morning, I recreated the sandwich but with the normal plain loaf.
8 slices HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I should try more next time.

Also decided to clear my jar of Nutella since I had bananas at home.
SO YUMMY but I was so stuffed after.

Today’s small dinner part ii was Nissin’s seafood noodle but the Japanese version.
This $4 cup tastes better than the $2 ones in terms of broth flavour and noodle texture, as always when it comes to Japanese instant noodles.

On Thursday night, I went to the Shiseido sale after school and watched my money leave me T_T
And then I was craving for Japanese food and then I saw some Japan exhibition at Orchard Central so I took a look.
A really nice Japanese dude started introducing me to the stuff laid out and I wanted to buy some of the socks but I just blew $75 I couldn’t spend more on something that isn’t my dinner… T___T
So while I was hunting for my Japanese dinner, some lady thrusted a flyer at me and I looked and omg it was hotpot for $9.90 and I was all like WHY NOT!!!!!
(I should know $9.90 was a great reason to NOT, since it was a good gauge of its quality…) (I regret this)
So I headed to Shi Li Fang (a restaurant whose name I can’t even pronounce was another good reason to NOT).
I like the concept of personal hotpot because it’s very me – table for one LOL, share table with friends LOL, etc.

So I ordered the beef tenderloin set for $9.90 and an additional shilifang specialty chicken thing since meat and seafood were 50% off…
I shouldn’t have. The chicken was spicy.
Anyway, that’s not the point.
The broth I got was tonic chicken soup or something and it’s just does not taste as nice as its name suggests.
The beef looks terrible, just bad, like it’s not beef, I can’t describe it well.
The thick bee hoon was a very strange white and had a strange texture and a strange taste and it just breaks and it’s just no.
Nothing made me happy except the price.
I guess it’s like a hotpot version of Saizeriya…
The whole while I was eating it I was facing Tonkichi, which was just a store away.
Can you imagine my plight?!?!?!?!

Friday had a meeting with the client for our final year project T_T
It’s only the first week of school and we’re actively staying back after school to discuss stuff omg T_T

Anyway, I tried a new wanton mee stall in school, RedRing Wanton Mee.
It’s a blogged store LOL so I tried LOL and…
The char siew is so yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wanton is ok only…
And I went home. And then I went out again because Yuxuan asked me out.
She was craving the pistachio ice-cream from Sunday Folks, which the other day she told me she disliked because it was too strong and she didn’t fancy pistachios in the first place.

I, too, got my favourite pistachio cone ^_^

Also took a picture with this wall, which Yuxuan first laughed at T_T

Yesterday I went to collect my race pack, which you, if you don’t already know, will soon see that it’s really lame.
Me? Running? 5km? Please.
Then I went to L’EntrecΓ΄te for lunch with Lynette!

Le poulet with steak sauce πŸ˜€
Yummy enough. I love the fries πŸ˜€
I should return for their steak and fries (and with my camera). They’re called the steak and fries bistro after all.

Also, I should bear in mind not to give in to the $9 bottle of Evian because my finances do not support any lifestyle inclusive of expensive drinking water. Yet.

Then I headed to Sentosa for site recce with my group!
So hot T_T

Discussed work over not-very-yummy pizza at Bora Bora Margarita Bar (which has a sign that says Bistro 42 and it’s so confusing).
Then we left…
And I met Lynette again -______-
And we had dinner at PoulΓ©t because we couldn’t think of anywhere to eat???

I ordered the duck au vin.
Yummy! Meat slides right off the bones too πŸ˜€
To be honest, I find it better than the poulet roti which is what most people eat there (right?).
Then we went to Carl’s Jr for fries πŸ˜€
Then we had to go home because Lynette got a call and anticipate scoldings lol… Typical curfew prisoner ;_;

Ok, the end.
2nd week of school’s tomorrow.
Bye 😦

W39 Bistro & Bakery

Spent the whole of yesterday caught up on the selection of timetables because the school’s system screwed up and caused so much trouble 😑
Today I woke up early too, to select an elective module.
So troublesome 😦

Anyway, last night I walked to W39 Bistro & Bakery to meet Marissa for dinner and some catching-up! πŸ˜€
The dinner part was mainly for me because I didn’t consider the fact that it wasn’t a Halal-certified place but then again she said she didn’t really wanted to eat although she could’ve.
That aside, going out with her is great because we talk so much and I feel like we do not have enough time to chat sufficiently…
We do not converse through messaging much either.
I love it man.

I ordered duck confit πŸ˜€
Most of the items on the menu sounded great though, so I’ll probably return to try them out some time.

Thought this was not bad although there was one bit that wasn’t crispy at all but totally fat 😦
Meat was very tender and considering French cuisine isn’t its specialty I think it’s alright πŸ™‚
Flavour wasn’t very strong as compared to others I’ve tried.
Might I add that the mashed potatoes were the chunky sort and I like eating those πŸ˜€
Didn’t eat much of the salad though…

Being the honest and totally awesome person I am, I reminded Marissa I owed her $28 for the pizza I had the last time we met.
She was entirely skeptical of it although she’s the one benefitting from this.

So I paid for her apple crumble and returned her the remainder in cash πŸ˜€
I hereby present myself the Very Damn Good Friend Award πŸ˜‰

Got myself the rainbow cake for aesthetic purposes although Marissa advised against it.
When I first discovered its existence in 2010, I wanted one so badly but nowhere in Singapore sells them.
My mum also refused to bake it or let me bake it so I watched as my hopes and dreams vapourised into the abyss of darkness.
Then a few years ago, it started popping out EVERYWHERE!
Everyone was eating it and raving about it and I still haven’t come close to any.
Then last weekend my mum saw a picture of a rainbow cake in a magazine and asked me where it can be bought.
Fast forward to yesterday, I saw the cake so I decided I needed a closure.

My verdict?
It’s horrid.
I don’t know man, after 4 years of yearning a slice (and losing hope promptly after the discovery), I never once thought about how plain it would taste in contrast to its very vivid and exciting exterior.
I remember looking for recipes back then and I know it’s a super plain cake except that it looks totally totally tripping.
So ya, I guess you either have to close your eyes to eat it, or eat it with a blocked nose and blame the blocked nose.
Otherwise, it’s basically a slice of disappointment coated in rainbow rice.

Bought a slice of crunchy hazelnut home because it sounded and looked sort of promising…
Ate it today and was so upset 😦
It’s totally not crunchy and I couldn’t even taste any hazelnut very much if at all!
It’s all chocolate to me and it’s not even very rich chocolate :/
So maybe what I felt about the rainbow cake is all phony and I have to have another slice somewhere more renowned for it (recommend some if you know please) or something.

Before I ate the cake today I made myself instant noodles for lunch.
After yesterday’s dinner I walked to Marissa’s area and bought some groceries (which are about to be completely depleted soon).
Thought I’d give the Singapore’s CQYD a try to make sure the amazing made-in-Japan one that I had previously was amazing simply because of its origin.

Japanese one on the left, Singaporean one on the right.
One look and you know which one has a better tasting broth.
Don’t really know how much one packet of the Japanese one costs but I’m sure it’s more than the $2.50 I paid for a bundle of 5.
Taste wise, please splurge if you know what’s good for you.
(I mean that for both the noodles and the broth)
The kick is just not there T_T

Yesterday’s groceries include 3 russet potatoes for $1.
I had in mind to make some oven fries but then I found out I had no garlic nor parsley so I postponed that recipe for another time lol…

Had a go at Hasselback potatoes!!
It did not turn out as crispy as I’d expected…
It did not look golden either .__.
That’s thinly sliced potatoes, brushed with lots of butter (in between the flaps too) and some olive oil, salt and black pepper.
Baked it for 1 hour 15 minutes or so…
I shall try again someday .___.
That was my dinner and so all the food I had today was disappointing… Dammit.

Found a zillion photographs of me when I was little a few days ago.

2 to 3 years old and looking cute even with a drum handle up a nostril…

3 (or 4) years old and looking very happy doing nothing except standing on the swing .__.

Also might have killed a duckling at a tender age of 2.

Also had awesome face AND hair at 6 years old.
I absolutely resent my puberty.

Have a nice day πŸ˜€

I’m free!!!!

Hello everyone!
I have been returned to my lifestyle now that I have ended my internship!!

So on Thursday I woke up at 11.30am and didn’t sleep until 1.30pm or so today.
Then I went home and sleep, then left for Wala Wala πŸ˜€

Soloing a basket of chicken wings as usual…
After all I had nothing to eat all day! (except a few slices of pound cake)

Most random end to the meet: popping a bottle of champagne LOL
It sucked though…

So yesterday my lunch was at Clementi market…

The really nice pork porridge I had before wasn’t as nice in the form of chicken porridge 😦
Also really appalling how Chai Ho satay had no queue so I was like YES but it was like NO cos they were only starting the fire let alone grilling the satay 😦
For dinner I cooked shiba inu spaghetti!

It had randomly cooked the most perfectly al dente pasta and I don’t know how long I boiled it T_T

Ok and I have 2 months’ worth of food pictures to put here and I’m kinda dreading this but I’m like really GRACEful and nice so here goes:

Spaghetti bolognese at Gastronomia!

Ended the day with roasted pistachio ice-cream from Sunday Folks because Grace told me the pistachio here is better than Haato which I do not believe, and previously when I had it they just didn’t even put in effort to make it nice.
So this one, they had the chopped pistachios Grace mentioned of and it tastes better with the nuts but everything was falling off the cone onto me while I tried eating…
Haato is still better ok!!!!!!!! πŸ˜€ (REALLY)

Wei Ji wanton mee πŸ˜€
Possibly my last one until I ever go to Chinatown not hunting for cafes…

Last $5.50 xiao long baos πŸ˜€

Last chicken porridge from Tiong Shian Porridge Centre πŸ˜€

Last ah beng fried carrot cake πŸ˜€
I was gonna have my last People’s Park Centre yong tau foo but I didn’t go to work on Thursday… :/

There was one day I cooked this very yellow meal and now every time I think of it I want to barf…
Because it was not yummy and it was not pretty and I POISONED MYSELF LOL!!!
Now that I think of it, I poisoned myself with the salmon I cooked last time too!
For two days after the yellow meal, I had diarrhoea LOL!
Didn’t want to cook anything for myself anymore but then I had to cook the shina inu spaghetti because I really needed dinner.

The usual traditional Hakata ramen at Yoshimaru!
Haven’t had it in so long because I always opt for the salmon rice πŸ˜›
(omg embarrassing, I just command-S-ed this blog post because I thought I was writing a report)

Wala Wala last Friday night for Randolf again πŸ˜€ (and of course the wings)

Really oily Hawaiian pizza that’s bacon and pineapple. Their pizzas are really not bad though…

Waited quite some time for a seat at The Provision Shop.
The homemade fettuccine did not disappoint though.
Well thank god, because

my lunch from Sushi Burrito sucked!
They told me the salmon didn’t have mayonnaise in it.
Not only that, the nori was so soggy and while I was eating, everything was collapsing and I was so pissed I went to buy McDonald’s fries to console myself and that is so even when I avoid fast food, especially McDonald’s, when I can.
And to think it was so expensive!!! UGH

To make things worse, the dinner before was terrible too!

This black sesame ramen from Yoshimaru is pretty much the first thing I DISLIKE there?
It’s so thick and tastes bad and is super spicy and I choked thrice on the broth OMG
It was like harsh murder but even Hades send me back up so I had to endure the torture of eating it or something.
The broth ruined the eggs but at least the sweet corns were the only still-good thing in the bowl T_T

Went to get some chendol from Island Creamery to save myself…

Supply & Demand is somewhere I’d love to return to πŸ˜€
I just need friends who are in for a pizza party because their pizzas look amazing!

Hazel and I both got ragu di maiale!
My penne was slightly undercooked 😦 but it tastes good!

Truffle fries were also yummy!!
But we had to discard about half of it because we were much too full after the pasta 😦

Took this selfie without effort to send to Edna to show her what I was doing, and turns out I really like this photo because I look strange and Hazel looks like a man and there’s food on the table!!! YAY πŸ˜€

Some stuff I got Shwen to buy for me while she was in Hong Kong!

Also cooked some gourmet (LOL) instant noodles πŸ˜€
I always get very happy when I fry my instant noodles because they always look very good! HAHAHAHAHA

Helped at a wedding at Capella! Cutest couple ever!! πŸ˜€

*pretends to be in California*

Tied the sash on the baby high chair and awww VIB ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Had my first champagne after the wedding because someone was going around looking for people’s mouth to pour champagne into LOL!
But it was so yummy and I don’t know what it is but I saw “salmon” on the label so I REALLY DON’T KNOW MAN -__-
One of the funniest part of the after party was when everyone was clubbing at a TABLE and there were people standing on the chairs and Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child was playing and then, when it came to the “my father said” part, SOMEONE JUST SHOUTED “MY FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” DAMN LOUDLY! LOLLLLLLLLLLLL DED.

Bought a snack bag from Beverley because her illustrations are all always so nice, but I have no use for stickers cos I don’t stick them anywhere so yea a cute bag (that I haven’t found a use for lol)…
You can get her stuff from http://jukeboxprints.tumblr.com! πŸ˜€

Tamoya Udon!!! ^____^

Roasted pistachio waffles at Sunday Folks!
Favourite topping is yuzu kanten because I love kanten lol

Was a kampong kia one Saturday for this really cute 1-year-old’s birthday party!

Genius choux pastry iced gems! Didn’t try them though… cos I’m not a guest HAHAHAHA

Before the uncle left, he was trying to clear stocks and this was the BIGGEST ATAP CHEE BREAD EVER ;____; so hepi

Random Pasarbella adventure.
Anyway, I was in charge of the zero-point station so I played a bit before the guests arrive.
Sprained my left thigh although all my kicking was done with my right leg LOL!

And on Sunday night I had to go to the hospital cos my leg hurt like hell and for one time I couldn’t bend my leg cos it hurt like crazy and I kept crying cos as if it weren’t painful enough, everyone was expecting me to be able to move freely as if it was easy and I was so pissed off COS SHUT THE HELL UP???????? 😑
Wasn’t even a very severe injury but I’m like super weak LOL

Went to 119 Bukit Merah Lane 1 with Hazel one dinner!
She told me not to disclose this secret awesome coffee shop but I don’t care cos she won’t know cos she doesn’t read my blog (I think) HAHAHA
Decided on 青Miàn by the Travelling C.O.W

Shared a chicken teriyaki ramen burger!! πŸ˜€
It’s yummy! πŸ˜€
I swear this is one of the cutest and prettiest coffee shop ever! πŸ˜€
Wanna return to try the other stalls!

Had dinner with Marissa at Da Paolo Pizza Bar!

We each had a pizza cos those she can eat are what I don’t want to eat hahaha
I got prosciutto e funghi and yea HAM!

I don’t know what took me so long to dine here (I mean I used to work for the group for a very VERY brief period)

Got a free Nutella cake too because Marissa knows the chef lol
It’s nicer than the packed ones at Gastronomia because it’s softer and yea AWESOME πŸ˜€

I honestly don’t care if you don’t care about how much I love this lol

Lynette gave me an omamori she got from Meiji Shrine while she was in Japan! πŸ˜€
She proceeded to explain that it’s to ward off evil and that it would burn my hands cos I’m evil??? HAHAHAHA

Had 122 supermarket clearance sushis for dinner HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Also bought $60 worth of nuts for the kacang puteh stall for the birthday party .___.
And so much were left and are now in the office…

Gula Melaka waffles with toasted marshmallows and yuzu kanten the first time I tried Sunday Folks!
Not very much a waffles person but I must say the taste and texture is great πŸ™‚

TWG‘s macarons: vanilla bourbon tea, grand wedding tea, Napoleon tea and Camelot tea!

Watched The Sound of Music alone!
First time at MBS alone because for the first time Yumiko and everyone else chose school over me V___V k
Was really hungry after the show so I went around hoping there are restaurants still open…
HY California was so promising but it was closed (with customers inside) 😦
So I went to CaffΓ© B!

This lasagna is so yummy ;__;

Rather terrible truffle fries at PARK

Sakura matcha Kit-Kat Lynette gave me πŸ˜€

Poulet roti at Paul πŸ˜€

Salmon rice at Yoshimaru!

Humongous La Nonna pizza that was gradually less and less yummy as it was so big and it nearly killed me halfway into the pizza :/

Stuffed button mushrooms with tomato puree and tomatoes and topped it with cheese and herbs! YUMS!

Nutella banana dream

Vanilla latte from favourite Oriole!

Noriten is super yummy and addictive????
And when I bought one when I finally found it, it wasn’t as yummy as this one 😦

Some not bad Teochew bak chor mee at Smith Street! πŸ™‚

Sorry not sorry

Favourite oyako jyu at Ootoya

Didn’t really like the minced chicken Niigata mini don at Sanpoutei Ramen

But the Niigata shoyu ramen was yummy! Just a little strange cos I’m too used to Hakata ramen πŸ™‚

Very stingy uncle 😦

Wala wings on a day the 2nd floor was super full and Kellice and I could not listen to Randolf 😦

Wala dory chunks :>

Also befriended a bartender because Kellice’s tattoos are forever conversation starters lol

Again lol

4 Fingers because it has a new store in the west!

Tiramisu frappuccino and Eleanor & Park :>

Ikea’s yummy wieners for cheap πŸ˜€

Ah beng carrot cake lol

Had very high expectations of Tong Ah but… Ya Kun is still better to me lol :/

I cooked really yummy hotdog spaghetti with capsicums and mozzarella πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

A sandwich cake .__.

A pretty cake with pretty birthday girl πŸ˜€
The cake was yummy but was a mix of the strangest ingredients I don’t even remember anymore lol…

A very plain-looking but yummy duck confit panini at Club Street Social

Smoothie King wrap and angel food before watching The Fault In Our Stars and the movie was so crappy compared to the book!!

A really yummy duck confit pie at Pies & Coffee!
I normally don’t like mashed potatoes but these were good!! πŸ˜€

I took 4 hours to blog???
Grace, you’d better take me around Toa Payoh for all the best stuff ok???
(I’m serious lol, please PM me cos I lost your number)
Anyway, happy birthday Singapore!!

Competitive flag flying since last month hahaha
Ok goodnight!! My liver is super confused right now…

I think this was where I last left off

I finally found time to blog.
After 2 months (that’s right).
Shoutout to Grace Heah for demanding a post LOL!!
Disclaimer: Judgment accuracy decreased from distance. Also, expect abrupt jumps between days.
Here goes…

Went to PrivΓ© for dinner.
I need a car to come here for brunch, which is THE thing that people actually rave about…

Had me the Moroccan spiced chicken which I believe was mediocre, given its reputation…
Also was my first time eating cous cous and decided I didn’t like it.

Triple chocolate and vanilla bean ice-cream! YUMS!!!

Tamoya literally sells the best udon at the most affordable price ever.

Ah Beng carrot cake with some of the peeps from favourite TR03 who came down to meet me after work.
Also the day I gave up even asking to go for a fashion show at Paragon… :/
Also the day…

Tamoya again! If this isn’t convincing enough then…

Went to Ootoya again for dinner one day…

Mini hot soba yum

Mini oyako don yum

Kokuto pafΓ© yum

Tamago pudding yum
Honestly, I have no idea what Ootoya do to their food but it’s so delicious I continually close an eye to their really bad service or rather the lack thereof.
Also a really comforting place to dine at always seeing a few other TFOs.

Went to En Japanese Dining Bar at Alocassia for Mothers’ Day lunch with my relatives!
I have a series of really badly-taken photographs but please pardon me because you know I cannot handle communal food well and also ever since my phone became legitimately smart, I have given less heed to my photography because the instantness of it all is magic enough to me.
I need an Eye-Fi or FlashAir or equivalent and probably then I’ll go back to when I actually cared enough hahaha…

Appetisers (tamagoyaki, stuff, ladies’ fingers)
Couldn’t eat much of the tamagoyaki because it was generously topped with mentaimayo so GOODBYE!
Stuff is so labelled because it’s my first time eating it and I have no idea what it is but it is so yummy.
Think it’s scallop or never mind… Don’t trust me on its identity…

Yummy kani salad πŸ˜€

Crab again

Udon πŸ˜€

Nikuzune shiitake πŸ˜€
Have yet to try making this but I will eventually, perhaps soon!

Matcha azuki!
The food here’s really yummy albeit pricey but like I’ve said, I can’t handle communal food well.
TFO characteristics…?

Yummy ice cheese tart from Flor Patisserie!
Had some cakes from Flor before and they’re ALL yummy! ;___;
But I can’t go there for an all-cake dinner because they close so early!! T_____T

On Lynette’s birthday, I had dinner at Yoshimaru!

Usually have sake gohan when I’m not very hungry or broke or just have no feel for ramen…
But the broth aroma is always so alluring goddammit????
In exchange for promised flight tickets to Japan, I decided to treat Lynette to 2am:dessertbar after incautiously eating there close to her birthday so much so she placed her wild card on this crazy store.

Chocolate praline poprock cake πŸ˜€

Mediterranean remains my favourite πŸ˜€ <33333
Just strange enough to be worth the hefty price tag!

Had dinner at Ipoh Lou Yau Bean Sprouts Chicken one evening and contrary to the endless queues and the many reviews online, this was far from impressive.
Not only is the shop name near impossible to pronounce, the food is also mediocre and overpriced and just ugh no thanks!

A day the bunch of JAJ peeps met up for dinner, I managed to measure Leslie’s forehead.

His forehead is a whopping 9cm tall!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s twice my forehead, I kid you not!!!

Good Friday sale got me the cutie littel rucksack from my favourite Lazy Oaf and I don’t have any opportunity to use it lately because how do I wear work-appropriate clothes with this bag without looking like a mum slaved by a brat kid?

Found a vacation home in Wala Wala Cafe Bar.
Also did not know I have been entering illegally all these while LOL!!!

So I had the baked salmon which was ok but the spinach was beer-soaked and nasty (only to me).

The dory chunks were an absolute dream.
They’re basically bite-sized fish & chips without chips, otherwise known as simply fish…
And more visits proved that their snacks are the THANGGGGGGGG

Playing that night was 53A; awesome band I’d say.

Went to Genki Sushi for dinner one day.

These came in “trains” which really were an assortment of race cars. Trains???
Have no idea why but I was jaded with the concept before I even experienced it LOL!
I was more fascinated with the plate bin hahahahaha sorry I have a warped mind.

The best thing they had were these poached egg tempura and though it’s not well made, I liked the dish, mostly because I was imagining what a well-made one would taste like… GOD’S PANTRY OMG

Was delivering stuff one day and had to stand around for an hour waiting so I got some latte at One Shot Coffee and YUM ^_^
After which, when I was free to go, I went looking for my lunch but for some reason I could not find any shop open?????
So I promptly entered Le Chocolat Cafe when I saw its doors welcoming me and actually selling food…

Delicious club sandwich with fries and salad which vinaigrette leaked and soaked the paper bag on my way back to the office lol…

Labour Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Truffle fries at Au Chocolat pre-show!

Was damn swooned when Doody sang Those Magic Changes! ^____^

The evil works of Yumiko…

Beauty School Dropout; always hilarious!

Thought Sandy was very soft and Danny only made his way out with his funny nervous laughter…

Then they took out this board towards the end, got EVERYONE to stand up and sing along.
So being Singaporeans, most stood from peer pressure but only one other group sang and jived?!?!?!
Singapore’s so lame.
The cast was rather lame too forcing everyone into a standing ovation for a show that wasn’t very energetic.

On a side note, Lynette was a fashion disaster.

Went to Wala Wala again because it’s my vacation home LOL!!!!

*** The most amazing fried chicken I have ever had that isn’t glazed with magic sauce but is still magical!! ***
I wolfed down the dozen basket while trying to listen to Randolf Arriola sing but literally EVERYONE (it was crowded too) WAS TALKING 😑
With utmost concentration, I managed to hear him sing the most beautiful rendition of Duran Duran’s Come Undone EVER.
Gotta go back to hear him sing again man…
Anyway, he performs 7pm to 9pm on Fridays.

Martell lava cake!
The crunchy sides were nice, the buffer cake was gross but the middle was yea nice.
Does it not suck? Not liking the taste of alcohol but actually liking the aftertaste of cognac but cognacs are $30 a glass?????????? This world is out to get me!
So I was listening to Reverie being awesome and kinda hoarse and suddenly the bar blacked out LOL what
YA stuff like that…

Look at this glorious sandwich I made!! πŸ˜€ #chefcasia

Chai Ho satay dinner πŸ˜€

A meat rice birthday cake.
The week before saw a sushi + sashimi cake.
The week after saw a normal cake but a crazy candle.
And I doubt they’re stopping here.

Us super noisy bunch at Japanese class winning fans (and I snatched Pikachu duh)!!!!

Sake gohan and mini teriyaki chicken burger for dinner lol…

Went to Pasarbella looking for Charly T’s but was too late and pretty much everything were closed except a few including Dancing Crab so that’s where we went.

Delicious pink thyme lemonade <3333

Awesome combo bag filled with crabs, prawns, corns, sausages, clams (don’t eat) and mussels (don’t eat)!
All those were doused in this awesome puree that was a little too spicy for me but tasted awesome!!!
When I was done my lips have swelled to twice its usual pout and I just IDK MAN LOLLLLLL…

Tonkotsu ramen at Ikkousha Hakata Ramen and it’s so yummy!!! ^___^

Went to Balzac Bar and Brasserie for dinner!

Pomme frites; the bomb.

Beef cheeks a la cuillere; the bigger bomb.
Never knew why I never walked in despite always thinking of…
It’s really yummy T_T

Yup, this is the candle I was talking about…

One of the best YTF at the most random food court at the most random mall without long queues πŸ˜€
Sorry my YTF looks unappealing but that’s good too because YOU ALL WON’T CREATE A QUEUE >:D

Yuzu sorbet and favourite pistachio at Haato & Co. and I noticed a price hike πŸ˜₯ but I can’t find reason to part with this pistachio gelato…

Always the nun at a shots bar but the water at Chupitos tastes like crap probably for good reasons though lol…

Favourite prosciutto e funghi at the usual Pasta Fresca but for the first time I was completely ignored from entrance to exit.
I had to walk right up to the counter to place my order, got no table settings until my food arrived, no water was served until I nearly choked and died mid-meal, no one wanted to take my money too?????
Horrible as it is, the pizza felt like a comforting Jesus hand patting my back LOL (isn’t that a perfect description of pizza though???)

Then it was Wala Wala another night again.

You can’t see the wings but they’re there and nice as always…

You can see the chunks but they’re nice too…

Curly potato wedges bought on impulse and ugh too potatoey for my liking…

Vesak day!!!!!
Went to Ma Maison pre-show!

Beef stroganoff with butter rice…
Everything was fine except that some of the beef were inedibly chewy and ugh.

Lava cake from Chocolate Origin and though the consistency is awesome I just cannot trust a lava cake that is pre-broken???? That’s my joy you are taking away from me!!! NO.

Watched The Rise and Fall of Little Voice because the plot is awesome and because Pangdemomium’s productions have so far been amazing…

Really funny show with great plot, sets and vocals!!!
The good thing is there are always student prices for their tickets and for $50 in a mid category I get an amazing view and a spectacular show.
This is definitely better than Grease which I paid more than double for.
I can’t help but to think of how impossibly good Next To Normal was though… πŸ™‚

Ok, I’m not done but at least now you (Grace) know how my April – May went and what food you (Grace) can eat next! πŸ˜€

Shin Kushiya Japanese Charcoal Grill

Ok so in my one week of holiday I had some food (but when do I not?!?!)…
On Thursday I had dinner at Shin Kushiya because the entrance was beckoning me to get closer and closer and I was mentally coerced to enter despite its rather expensive menu T_T

Garlic fried rice!
I don’t think I’ve paid so much for fried rice in my entire life LOL!!!
But at least it’s fragrant and yummy ^_^
Since they seemed to specialise in grilled stuff, I didn’t buy other things like oyakodon and udon and stuff that I really wanted…

Enoki maki, sake ponzu, yakitori, nikuzune shiitake! πŸ˜€ ($3 ~ $5 all skewers if you exclude foie gras or other crazy premium stuff)
What I was eating was really just gourmet Tori Q or Wadori ok…
Enoki maki (pork slices and enoki mushrooms) was alright; yummy whoever cooks it (read me) anyway… and for $3 I thought it’s a no-no since I very kindly blogged a how-to recently, which is a tiny tiny fraction of the costs for the same amount of enoki maki.
Sake ponzu (salmon and ponzu and grated daikon (I think)) is REALLY YUMMY!!! πŸ˜€
Very pupil-dilating and interesting and I just really like it ok?!?!!??! GO GET YOURSELF THAT BURST OF FLAVOUR! πŸ˜€
Yakitori (chicken. just chicken.) was ordinary… Just go to Tori Q if you want to eat this (to be honest Tori Q makes it more tender and OMG THAT GRAVY)!
Nikuzune shiitake (shiitake stuffed with minced chicken) is… GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY WAY?!??!?!?!?!?! ^____^
I love mushrooms and I love chickens and this together is just so beautiful!!!
So juicy and all that T____T
I think I’ll try to cook this one day when I’m free!! πŸ˜€

The previous weekend I was working with Lynette at the NATAS Fair and we spent a good amount of time loitering around the Japan NTO booths because I happen to love Japan a lot and Lynette kinda loves everything but she doesn’t have to yearn for travelling (like I do) because she does that twice a year without fail and to really nice places too T_T
Took a lot of brochures thinking I could do some fake travelling in my head (do I sound pathetic…?)
They were also handing out tons of cute plastic bags filled with brochures so yes, thank you Japan!
(I also put up a map of Japan above my bed LOL (not sure what for but it’s beautiful))

Okinawa and the really cutie pie memo pads ^____^

Nagoya and a goddamn generous gift of this beautiful pen and you can see how happy I am about having it in my possession because I took no less than 20 panoramas in an attempt to capture this!!!!

And in a (heavy) surprise bag with brochures I didn’t think much of while I was working, I found Hello Kitty magnets and chopsticks and notebooks and a keychain T_________T
I have a few more stuff I didn’t take pictures of but yea T____T I’m so happy T____T

Saw 2 Japanese men walking around dressed as One Piece’s Marine and Luffy!!!!
And we had to rob them of their costumes for a photo because I LOVE ONE PIECE (Lynette doesn’t know anything about One Piece and she thought I called her Luffy as a combination of “Lynette” and “Duffy” I nearly vomited blood)
I chose the Marine’s costume because it’s a legit legit Marine’s costume!!!!!!! ^______^

The next day I met with her again for a dinner because she wanted to pass me a birthday gift she has been hiding from me since her return from Japan (SEE WHAT I MEAN?????)

She got me the Duffy pouch I have always wanted T_T
Thank you x1000000 although it couldn’t even contain a cellphone <3333

We had truffle fries and even more fries at PS Cafe as if the truffle fries alone were not more than enough for two to share.
(We finished them all)
The waitress who took our order got a shock and we all couldn’t stop laughing HAHAHAHAHAHA

We parted ways after a double scoop from Awfully Chocolate.

Duck confit at Saveur with Joe some other day!
Not the best but is more than wonderful at its price πŸ˜€

So after the last paper (OMG TOURISM LAW HAS SCARRED MY LIFE), a whole bunch of us went to Modesto’s for lunch on Fiona because she has a whole stash of vouchers HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Not my mushroom soup but I took a sip and didn’t think it was very good…

Portobello and prosciutto pizza!! πŸ˜€
I liked the portobello one more! πŸ˜€

Penne alla bolognese which was not too bad…

and vanilla gelato!! πŸ˜€
Then we went to some community club for karaoke HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It’s just that it is so difficult to find people who listen to the types of songs I listen to to go karaoke with!
Like they were all singing Chinese songs and stuff but it’s ok HAHAHAHA (cos I was chanting along for fun).
After all, I got to solo Bohemian Rhapsody LOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
Then Fiona, Jia En, Yong Chin and I went to Tom Yum Kungfu for mookata although all of us were still super full!!
It was good but I thought the one at Golden Mile is way better!
Went to Oblong for desserts!

Baileys and lychee martini!
I love alcoholic desserts and everyone always slams me since I hate drinking alcohol???
Does no one hate the repulsive sting from drinking alcohol??????????
In desserts I get to taste it better anyway!

Some delicious chicken congee at Ghim Moh market from my broke days during study camp!
Study camp was a mixture of Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Smoothie King lol.

To date I have not tried anything other than Angel Food hahahahah!

Tried a grilled teriyaki chicken breast wrap and my is it delicious!! πŸ˜€
The thick end of the wrap tasted like roti prata (2-in-1 wraps OMG)!!!

Love the chicken pie from Costa Coffee!!

I also prefer their coffee to Starbucks’ because I find it more consistent and aromatic.

Their passionfruit tea was lovely too!

Some day we had beautiful Chai Ho satay ❀

Also wasted my last bindi on a random day because it was already slightly damaged so yea… why not?

Bought a lot of Ringo Work ^_^

Yummy cookies ^_^

Yummy sake gohan at Yoshimaru Ramen Bar!

The mini teriyaki chicken burger was really yummy too!!! πŸ˜€

Moridakusan Hakata ramen on another day!
A lot of additional stuff I don’t really eat so yea, I wouldn’t buy this again! (Had this only on promotion)

The best crushed ice on earth from Jamaica Blue because a whole lot of my friends work there LOL such perks

Favourite pho ga at Ghim Moh market ^_____^ (a Vietnamese stall at the corner!! GO EAT!!!!!)

Ok that’s all and it’s like 4am now omg GOOD NIGHT!!! πŸ˜€

My Fair Lady & SSO Pops Concert: Spirited Away – The Music of Joe Hisaishi

Blogging while my hair dries lol πŸ™‚

So a day before Valentine’s Day I spent time with Yumiko watching My Fair Lady!

It’s probably a blessing we both like to watch musicals because without it I think we would cease to be friends or something what with her being busy forever and us never meeting up often like we intended to when we enrolled into the same course -___-
Really enjoyed My Fair Lady!! πŸ˜€
It was really funny; much funnier than the movie!
The funniest part was the Ascot scene, which I never laughed watching the movie twice but cannot contain when I saw it on stage!
The spotlights didn’t follow well and the backdrops had some problems though :/
But I’d gladly watch it again if I don’t have to pay (because I am broke and intend to watch Fat Pig and Grease)…

First row on the circle and while it wasn’t too bad, my back nearly broke with me hunching over the railing so I could see better and also to rest my head on the cold metal lol…

A terrible photo this dude took for us that was blur, slanted and without a second shot!

Was wearing the socks Yuxuan gave me because it was her birthday! πŸ˜€

I was early meeting her and spent an hour looking at the clouds go by.
Sitting by the museum only because it was a rare sight seeing healthy lotus in the pond hahahaha!
Had dinner at the food court because we were both scrimping…

Tried Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh there because I’ve always wanted to try it but didn’t know where the two outlets were and it came as a surprise to see it at Marina Bay Sands!
The bak kut teh was pretty good both soup and pork πŸ˜€
Costed me $14.90 for the set I shouldn’t have gotten because the sides were only so-so.

Was reading tips on Foursquare and many people said the iced tea was good so we both got it and yes it is good!
Really rich and creamy but too filling after my big meal for me to finish.
Thought it would be a wonderful ice-cream if it were frozen πŸ˜€
On a side note, I bought 2 pints of Ben & Jerry’s because they were only $20 for 2!

Couch potato is really nice I think πŸ™‚

Yesterday a bunch of us went to Pasarbella to celebrate Hazel Tan’s birthday!

Got the pulled pork sandwich from SeaSalt Caribbean Deli because the pulled pork were super yummy when I had the yaroa last time.
However, the pulled pork were only freshly cooked so they were rather tough and I didn’t enjoy it very much and it was a huge portion too!
Gave up eating halfway because I was really sleepy and I fell asleep and missed the birthday celebration LOL .___.
I was really tired because I got home really late after the musical and had a revision lecture at 9.30am that day!!
Went home and took a nap when we left and for dinner I stir-fried some instant noodles that was kind of tasteless…

Well, at least I made instant noodles look somewhat good, no?

Just now I went with my aunt to watch the SSO Pops Concert: Spirited Away – The Music by Joe Hisaishi! πŸ˜€
Tickets were really reasonably priced and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Joe Hisaishi so when I found out about it in December I immediately made purchase, which was already a dangerous delay from when sales started in October!
There was literally zero advertisements about it and I only found out about the event when I was at SISTIC’s website looking for things to go to!
Was gonna pay for myself but my aunt offered to pay for me ^___^
It was a sellout too! Thank god I was kiasu and didn’t hesitate!
Would’ve gone alone if I had to too!
It is my first orchestra and it was nice πŸ™‚
Felt a little sleepy halfway through with the dimness of my surroundings and Joe Hisaishi’s music hahahaha…
Departures, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Summer and the encore’s One Summer’s Day and My Neighbour Totoro sounded better than the rest.
I hope Joe Hisaishi comes to Singapore before I die or he dies because I’d willingly pay maybe even $300 to watch him πŸ˜€

Studied with Fiona at a nearby Starbucks at noon…
Then I had dinner alone at Itacho Sushi before the concert!

Inarizushi and

roasted salmon sushi and tamago sushi and

tempura temaki and

crab meat chawanmushi and udon!
Shouldn’t have ordered the udon because it was so plain and filling!
I could’ve gotten 6 more sushis for the same price!
While Itacho Sushi has really yummy sushi at $1-$2, the bill always scares the shit out of me because I ordered noodles or other stuff…
(I’m so hungry right now and craving for these sushi and sigh… it’s 2am???)

Also had desserts from Awfully Chocolate because Amirah was working πŸ˜€

Earlier this week..

Wore Lazy Oaf with Lynette and Amanda!
Had dinner at Dulcet & Studio with a bunch of people after the research exam before celebrating Yuxuan’s birthday!

Classic black pig bolognese fettuccine which I’ve had before…
Still yummy but the pasta was a little overcooked.

Tea time cake because it was $2 and the cream puffs I wanted were sold out!
Then we went to Chupitos and they all drank and I sipped some and it’s true I hate alcohol!

On Monday, Daphne Khoo, from the first Singapore Idol, came to school to perform two of her new songs!
She’s so funny! I never knew!! Sings really well too, though my memory of Singapore Idol is super faint.
Apparently Gayle Nerva was there too but I only knew after Lynette told me who she was.

Just joined in for a photo although I didn’t desperately need/want it like Lynette…
There was a little bit of Gayle behind me in the photo but it was cropped to a square oops…

Last week…
Studied with Fiona and had dinner at La Petite Cuisine (omg they do not have a website so I can’t add a link… anyway, it’s at Serene Centre and Thomson too??)!

Really warm hot bread that nearly burned me while I was tearing it -___-
Was yummy though!

Very yummy confit de canard although its portion was quite small!
The chef was super cute!!! He kept walking around and chatting with customers.
He also stared at us taking pictures of our food and demanded to see it! HAHAHAHAHA!!
He said my picture is good because it is shiny HAHAHAHAHA ^____^

The chicken wraps I had at Charly T’s which I was craving for after studying the day before!

Went to Little Diner one day after school for dinner alone! πŸ˜€

Pan roasted salmon filet was a special that day so I had it since they took the effort to tell me about it.
I’d return to try the fish and chips I wanted to try!

Upgraded my fries to truffle fries at an extra charge 😦
Very subtle truffle taste but I love handcut fries nonetheless!
Handcut fries are the best in my opinion because omg skin ❀

Ok that's all for now… bye!
P.S. I hope my mother strikes the lottery so she can buy me a car

Happy birthday, Marissa

Last night, we went to Hard Rock Cafe to celebrate Marissa’s birthday! πŸ˜€

Had some really good fish & chips πŸ˜€
It was really filling though, but good nonetheless.

She was being a little bitch demanding her Gastronomia nutella cake so we had no choice but to burn the living hell out of the little slab of awesomeness with 18 candles hahahahahaha!!

Pickled Tink that I didn’t like…
After all I don’t enjoy alcohol very much at all and can’t understand how everyone around me worships them??

Before the food came I commented that “I want Styx!!!!” referring to the songs that were playing…
And Marissa was like “Why don’t you just get it?!?!??” referring to “steaks”!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA I nearly died!!!

Some food I Instagrammed:

Shared 2 bags of Charly T’s fries with Fiona and Lynette the other day!
Ultra craved it after my first time so I went back!

Starlight Express and butterscotch gelato!
I was only alerted and went to Latte e Miele upon seeing a flyer saying that getting a scoop of Starlight Express would entitle me to a chance of winning 4 tickets to the musical it was named after so DAMN YOU MUSICALS HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
It was really good, actually!!
Was skeptical about it because why else would anyone come up with such a tactic right…?
Starlight Express was a super rich chocolate that surpassed Awfully Chocolate’s wonderful hei ice-cream, in my opinion (and Lynette’s)!
Butterscotch was really yummy too; got it instead of vanilla because it was sweeter!

50 sticks with Lynette at Chai Ho Satay!! πŸ˜€

World class chocolate and pralines n cream at Baskin Robbins after.

After failing the SIA internship interview I went to Bedok 85 with Min.

The famous ba chor mee wasn’t open yet and so I had carrot cake and forgot to ask for it without chilli T_T
I swear this week was the worse of the whole bad year?

Had my favourite vanilla latte at Oriole after πŸ™‚

Went to Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant one day after school for dinner.

Pollo al Chipotle!
Mexican food is pretty much spicy or cheesed and so I found this perfect only item I could order with the chili aside!
Was good but if I were a chili-acceptor, I’d be enjoying it much more, wouldn’t I?

One Friday morning was spent with Joe exploring PasarBella! πŸ˜€

Shared a crunchy hazelnut cake from Gastronomia!

I’ve always loved farmers’ markets so I was thrilled the first time I saw this place under construction although I know it’d be nothing like the real real real farmers’ markets with lots of strawberries and cherries and whatnot for cheap like in the west 😦

Had a latte at Dutch Colony Coffee Co. πŸ˜€
Didn’t know where to get sugar so I drank it slightly bitter but I liked it πŸ™‚

Shared the Charly T’s fries and for $5 I really think it’s way amazing πŸ˜€

Bought a bag of cherry tomatoes before leaving to snack on but I was full so I gave him the rest of it since he was begging for the damn tomatoes when I alighted at school sheesh!
They were really sweet and juicy (not some) and it was only $3 for a huge bag of it! πŸ˜€

Dinner after a driving class at &Made πŸ™‚

Had the yummy truffle fries (oh god I love them)

And was full before my favourite caramello sundae that was really hastily and uglily made (due to the crowd, I guess) and which taste was a little off…
Good thing I had a 20% discount voucher and everyone sort of saved $5 or so! πŸ™‚

The day before the special day of nothing, I requested for a cake from Amirah and she so very nicely gave me it πŸ˜€

And a day before that, I was at Awfully Chocolate to visit her!

Was reading a book while eating the awesome ice-cream as if I didn’t have school…
It’s been 3 or 4 weeks but I STILL have not gotten the hang of school! 😦

Went to Carpenter and Cook for tea with Lynette! πŸ˜€

She wolfed down her 2 tarts in the same time I took to finish mine…

And I only had the passionfruit meringue tart and the tea so…
I guess I am not as beastly as you think I am πŸ™‚

Went to Kim San Leng at Bishan with Adeline some time near the start of school…

Happy duck rice hahahaaha the name!!!
It was yums and so were the popiahs!! πŸ˜€

Amatriciana penne at Gastronomia when visiting Marissa!
It was so yummy but really expensive considering the portion :/

The nutella cake was really good too!
And Marissa asked me to save her some and then she asked for it as a birthday gift hence the burning cake πŸ˜€

Chicken roll and coronation chicken pasta salad at The Rotisserie when I brought my friends there because everyone wanted to eat where I ate during my study camp hahahahaha πŸ˜€

Tanglin Halt A1 carrot cake at Whampoa!
It was so crowded over there and it was hardly recognisable and I don’t recall any food from when I was young because I only remembered the really yummy hor fun that’s no longer there or something because 10 years ago the auntie operating the stall was already so old???
Anyway, the black carrot cake was a dream!!!!!!
If only I wasn’t so far away (or could drive), I’d go there time and time to eat (and everywhere else, duh who am I kidding)…

Went to Yoshimaru Ramen Bar too frequent at some point…

And had traditional Hakata ramen with corn thrice LOL πŸ˜€
I love it so much I’d eat that every other day if I had the money!

And on some day when all the OIP people had returned from China, I went to Paul with Lynette and Fiona!

The mushroom soup was a real disappointment because it was too watery and just, no.
And it was really expensive too!!

The roasted chicken leg, however, was really good and oh the potatoes!!!! I WANT TO MARRY THE POTATOES!!!!

Okay, I had no idea I was so behind on blogging now that I no longer make it a habit to lug around my camera…
Would be awesome if I had the SONY QX-10 or QX-100 because it has always been a want even before its conceptualisation!
And it’s a terrible idea to blog when I am so hungry – I seem to always do this to myself – and when I have a crazy individual report to submit in 4 days that I have not started on yet…
This year sucks 😦

The days I did not have dinner at The Rotisserie

The title basically sums up what this almost useless post is about…

The day I had to go to school I food-hopped for dinner at Serangoon with Nicole and Yong Chin!

Saw the kombi and 911 at one location which is crazy like 2 of my favourite vehicles were right in front of my eyes!?!
Gotta chiong my practical lessons because my test is in about 2 months πŸ˜€

Truffle fries at The Factory which is so below expectations compared to how they both described it prior to coming to Serangoon…
I couldn’t smell any trace of truffle in it the whole time from its arrival to its death but only so rarely tasted a little bit of barely-there truffle oil in my fries. 😦

Then we went to Chomp Chomp and I got a grass jelly longan which was nice πŸ˜€

Had chicken bolognese at iSteaks Grillhouse and for some reasons I felt that it tasted like beer…
And then Nicole and I shared a wedge of watermelon at the rooftop of myVillage!

Watermelon in the dark is by far one of the more thrilling experiences in my recent life (because my life is boring)

Another day I walked all the way to Holland Village with all hopes of eating Yoshimaru Ramen and I had no idea dinner starts at 6pm so I thought they were closed and I was so sad!!!!
I settled for Everything with Fries quite unhappily…

My favourite one egg soup! πŸ˜€

Spaghetti bolognese that was meh

Garlic and herb fries that I failed to finish because I was really full and it was no longer warm 😦

CHAI HO SATAY!!!! <333333333
It was about 7pm and I was very hungry and they ran out of chicken so I had pork.
Before I could even finish my 20 sticks, the crowd dispersed because THEY RAN OUT OF SATAY!!!
Thank goodness I got mine because I was famished.

The day I went to Bishan to study I had a motive.
Food-hopped with Yuxuan with less than $10 each πŸ˜€
Went to Longhouse because I have been wanting to eat here again each time I come to Thomson and NOT eat here.

My favourite herbal chicken from Day N Night Herbal Soup πŸ˜€
$6 for a half chicken πŸ˜€

Duck rice with eggs from Soon Kee πŸ˜€ $3.50

$1 goreng pisang πŸ˜€
After that we went to Ming Fa Fishball for ba chor mee!

Then we went to Scoopz and since she worked there we had a 40-cent discount hahahahaha

Freezeball!!!!! πŸ˜€
$1.40 yay hahahahaha
Love Thomson Rd because EVERYTHING IS SO YUMMY?!??!?!?!?!?!?!

After the first paper, I went with Yuxuan and George to attempt to study for the next paper with whatever time we were left with.
Too hungry to study so I brought them to my favourite Pasta Fresca!

My usual prosciutto e funghi πŸ˜€
I was so happy that they liked it too yay πŸ˜€
We left to continue studying but too full to study.

And just now, after the last paper, we all went to Saveur for lunch, Nicole’s recommendation πŸ˜€

Had the pan-seared sea bass, diced sautΓ© potato with crabmeat, french beans & caper vinaigrette or simply known as “Fish” in the menu, while the rest had the duck confit that I initially wanted hahahahah
The bass was not bad but the potatoes stole the show; I’m so sorry, fish.

Then I bought a fish at the Korean supermart hahahahah
Dinner with Fiona and Adeline was herbal chicken at Thomson again hahahahaha πŸ˜€
Post-dinner playground time was really fun!
We played charades and it is so stupid and spent most of the time lying down πŸ˜€
I’m gonna miss them (but they wanted to Skype me daily so I think it’s the other way around hohoho)

Bistro Du Vin

Today I was just casually walking down a road I’ve never set foot on before…
And then I saw Bistro Du Vin!
Always heard of it, never manage to find it because it’s at Shaw House Level 2 (???) and you can’t see it…
Because it’s outside… -____-
Heard it’s a good French restaurant from somewhere, I just know la ok I don’t know where I learnt it…

Had the set lunch!
Because I was studying the menu from outside, contemplating until someone popped out and invited me in…
And I have a low propensity to reject food, especially when staff are so nice… T_T
Bye, my money…
Foie gras ravioli!
I have never had foie gras before so I might as well try my first where it is said good.
And the verdict? I don’t like foie gras.
I took about 1/3 of a tablespoon of it and I almost threw up omg T_T
It tasted so fat and so… that same feeling I get when I eat sashimi… what is that?!?!?!!
There goes my hopes and dreams of becoming some food & travel host because

Β i) I cannot like a lot of food such as chilli, sashimi, and the supposedly godly French delicacy foie gras
ii) I don’t even remember the last time I traveled & I panic just at the thought of camps/sleepovers

Finished the three yummy slices of mushrooms… stained with the sauce!
Very yummy! I think I’d enjoy the appetiser if I were socially-acceptable-human enough to like supposedly good food.
Left everything else untouched though… T_T SORRY FOOD GOD I HAVE FAILED YOU
At least now I know not to try foie gras again until I feel adventurous again, if I dare.
Main course was duck leg confit!!
Yummy!!!!!!! πŸ˜€
I can’t compare this to the one at Cocotte because I don’t remember what it tastes like anymore o.o
But it was very fat too… But duh…
The leek-pommery mash was unexpectedly yummy!
I mean I don’t even like mashed stuff to begin with… neither do I remember what a leek is…
But I think I like it…? Ya I was undecided and I still am so I actually ate only half of it because everything so far was crazy satiating!
(Look at me fail at loving food)
(Look at me lose my dream job that was never mine ha ha ha T_T)
Dessert was creme caramel!
Damn it why don’t you just burn that thing for me T_T
I was craving for creme brulee and it wasn’t on the set lunch menu!
But it was yummy man!
It’s my first time trying this creme caramel thing but seriously man you can never be better than your burnt relative 😑
To be honest I find it very odd having coffee at the end of a meal o.o
So it was black coffee and I added milk and sugar myself, something I believe I cannot master.
Caramel from before also masked the sweetness so it’s clear I cannot like this very cup.

Dinner was at MOF!
Mango kakigori!
First time I’m not sharing it with a friend 😦
This is also the first time it looks so miserable…
Mango was sour too!!
What the hell man?!?!!!?!!!
But it’s mango kakigori.
Nobody hates mango kakigori.

Just realised I said almost everything was yummy while not liking anything very much at all.
My life is so confusing hahahahahahahaha
