Aurora Didn’t Hunting

This is heckin’ late but I don’t care because at least it’s here. I’ll just always remember how Yuxuan blogged about Day 1 of Tokyo, and didn’t continue. Ever.

#casiainhelsinki #casiainlapland

So last year, I wasn’t around for Chinese New Year because I went to Finland. Because there were so many aurora borealis videos surfacing on Facebook at the end of 2015, and I showed them to my mother and she was like OMG and she said we’ll go if she tiobehpio and then she did. Some tour group that was 5 – 14 February 2016, but was actually 6 – 13, and also there were so many wasted days so it’s really maybe like 5 days. I honestly hate tour groups.

The boarding passes were so pretty!!!

I LOVE AIRPLANE FOOD. And because it was a long flight, I had TWO!!!

It was damn funny because I boarded the plane at 1am or so, but because of the time difference, they were like, we’ll be serving dinner shortly. I’m not complaining though.

Day 1
Singapore to Helsinki to Rovaniemi, and then further up to Luosto and that’s about a whole day gone.

I wasn’t even excited to see snow anymore. Don’t know what’s wrong with me.

The whole place was mainly vast emptiness sprinkled with conifers. Very nice.

One night in the glass igloo at Santa’s Hotel Aurora

SO COZY!! But you know cozy is a nice way of saying a place is small too, right?

The sky got real dark real quick. We also had bad news because the aurora levels was low for the whole period of our trip, and it didn’t help that it was cloudy 80% of the time.
GOPR0040

The only thing I got to see around the hotel was snow and more snow. I’m also aware that my photos are like ew because I can’t be bothered and I hate editing pictures so bye.

Roughly in this direction is a ski resort so I was waiting to find it on a free day.

I guess this is the equivalent of a sunset in the arctic…? It just suddenly became black. And I thought the dark blue was night enough.

It was 5pm btw.

Then it was time for dinner. Being the picky person that I am, I was prepared to go hungry because it was a 3-course at the hotel’s restaurant I couldn’t choose.

Wah jialat. The first thing is a slab of cheese .____.

It’s been too long to remember if I finished this.

Then ok, chocolate cake.

Day 2

Breakfast was 100% better because it’s familiar processed food :’)
The pear was damn nice though LOL

Morning light but gloomy af thanks to the clouds.

DOGGO!

Everywhere looks the same!!!

IMG_6952
The walk back to get evicted from the igloo and move to a generic hotel. Or maybe that was later… Can’t remember.

Then I took a detour because I’m finally seeing this place in daylight.

Stup found a cross-country skis rental booth instead of the ski resort. Of course I only found out after trying to speak English to someone who replies in Finnish. Somehow we managed to communicate.

CUTE!!!

Heading out for HUSKY SLEDDING ๐Ÿ˜€

Pupper prison

We were introduced to every husky in every pen(?)

Most of them look like ahbengs tbh.

PUPPERS!!!!!

Then she took out 2 of them for us to play with T___T

Very happy! But this photo is jialat on so many levels. We were instructed to wear their overalls and hats and gloves and boots because it’s gonna be cold. But NO, it was too big and too warm and not aesthetic at all! Overalls also do not work for females because we blj. So I only used their boots and the others only when reasonable.

OMG โค โค โค

The B.

Damn cute!

When they were returned to their enclosures, the mother dog was chasing after them, smelling their butts and licking the assholes. Then one of the puppies shat. AND THE MOTHER ATE ITS SHIT!!!! And MY MOTHER SCREAMED LOLLLLLLLLLLLL

Then my mother was like “YUCKS! Why they eat shit?” and she distanced herself from the dogs HAHAHAHAHA

“Yum”

“YUM”

“i oso wan”

SO CUTE!

Puppers T_T

Then the first batch was done sledding so it’s our turn! The pups were a great distraction. 100% distracted.

Learning how to control the sled. It’s really just shifting your weight and stepping on the brakes.

0% aesthetic OOTD

Don’t know how we ended up at the first sled so we were following the snowmobile guy. That just means less huskies in front for me to look at ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Swapped positions with my mum midway.

Not very fun compared to standing up…

Erm… then the day ended. That was like one activity.
Ok, I checked Instagram and Swarm. I think after this, we checked into the generic normal not-glass hotel and then I went skiing at Ski Knรถรถli Rinneravintola for an hour just before they closed.
Wah JIALAT HAHAHAHA!! I haven’t seen snow for a decade since and that is also how long I haven’t skied. I took so long figuring out how to actually get on the ski lift. There were few skiers for me to copy anything from LOL. A guy had to come out to help me cos I kept falling off the seat.
Then I came down ok but it was so short. So the second time I went up, I was wondering if I should go higher. At the exit, I hesitated too long so I had no choice also. What a horrid option because the next exit was nowhere near and the worst thing is that the incline became 45 degrees. I dared turn around and I could see everything below and lots of mountains around. I was getting worried because the slope was so deserted if I died nobody would know I was there.
GOPR0147
I kept falling because the 45 degree slope was covered in soft powdery snow. I was falling my way down rather than skiing. At one point I was so tired of struggling back up I just sat in my pity pile and admired the view. No lie it was a beautiful sight. I could finally ski again when I reached the first exit. Then I went a few more times until I got bored and it got dark.

Dinner was ok… I’m not fond of cheesy and creamy things but they love it.

Day 3

The same breakfast. I always look forward to breakfast because ham and sausage is life hahahah ๐Ÿ™‚

The temperature was rising and the fallen snow are more or less melted, making the grounds totally gross and dirty. It gets worse in Rovaniemi and Helsinki, you’ll see.

Visited the Arctic Snow Hotel.

The Ice Chapel so you can get married looking like a wooly mammoth.
IMG_7158

Cool sculptures but I can’t understand why anyone would have a night here because it’s cold and dim and maze-like.
IMG_7131
This room is one I found the coolest because it had a polar bear ice throne and a wolf headboard.
IMG_7140
They really go all out with this project, huh? They melt eventually. A mezzanine.

The Ice Bar.
IMG_7150
And who needs chillers?
IMG_7153
IMG_7149
IMG_7155
IMG_7159
IMG_7168
IMG_7182
The reindeers I saw on this trip were mostly antlerless cos they were shedding. Not cute.
IMG_7186
There was this snow graveyard LOL. Not sure if beneath them are actual headstones but there’s this Olaf snowman.
IMG_7190
And an even tinier snowman beside it!!! SO CUTE HAHAHAH!!!
IMG_7192
A lake froze over and snowed over.
IMG_7201
Glass igloos.
IMG_7204

After this we took the tour bus back to Rovaniemi.
IMG_7210
Gloom and slush .___.
IMG_7211
IMG_7215
Don’t know why McDonald’s was my choice of lunch.
IMG_7218
Not that lame now that I know that it’s in THE ARCTIC CIRCLE.

Got a Happy Meal because it means I get to have this Rarity eyewear thingy!!!!!
Lynette wanted one so I went back another day to get another Happy Meal lol.

Another reason to hate tours: Oh, you are Asian? You must miss Chinese food!!!!!
It’s literally Day 3.
IMG_7228
It’s a place called Xiang Long. Tbh it tastes not bad!

But do you know how awkward it is to share food with strangers (or acquaintances we will never ever see again)? I know as Chinese our meals tend to be communal, but that’s with family what!?!! Then there’re always two types of Chinese at the table – one is overly polite, and the other has no regard for anyone else. I’m there wanting to have some more soup but like paiseh. And sometimes when I’m trying to grab something, the Lazy Susan starts turning……… PLEASE LA TOUR AGENCIES PLEASE STOP THIS!!
There was a Muslim group with us too, so they had a special no pork no meat table.
Tours: Huh? Asians who aren’t Chinese??? Huh??????

We had to go there dressed in very bulky insulated gear because we were going to the forest in the dead of night right after dinner.
Very bad planning (or lack thereof) because the restaurant was so cramped and warm, most of them had to get out of half their overalls. Except me. Because I hate their overalls remember? I know I came to this climate dressed properly. But thankfully I got to rent better boots!

Took a long and slippery walk to the edge of a lake. To Lapland Safaris!
It was an activity I was looking forward to most because I wanted to drive a snowmobile so much!!
Learning how to drive was simple. But I have now forgotten how. It was just like bicycle brakes but instead of braking, they accelerated.
IMG_7308
Not gonna lie, this picture was taken AFTER the whole thing.
The most agonising thing was that my mother and I were unfortunately the second in line, and right behind this pair of aunties.
My mother is quite swag when it comes to driving. And on the way there, we were just lamenting over how those aunties were so slow!! We weren’t allowed to speed but it’s really quite frustrating to be tailing a vehicle that keeps slowing down.
Turning into a narrow path, it got worse. The aunties managed to drive into the snow kerb LOL. It was a path well trodden such that it was easy to go over and follow. But for them it’s a whole another situation!! My mother and I just burst out laughing la LOL!!!
So finally we arrived at our tepee! My fingers were on the brink of frostbite (a total exaggeration). We parked in a single file. That means we would STILL be behind those aunties on the trip back T____T
IMG_7245
IMG_7259
They arranged a sausage circle lol and also boiled water.
IMG_7265
SHIOK. Just cooking my hands in case I wanted supper.
IMG_7276
YUM!!!!!!
Don’t know why but I think I had seconds.
IMG_7287
Look at how they make tea! They couldn’t care less that all the paper was getting charred.
IMG_7302
In fact, that’s how we dispose of our paper cups – chucking it into the fire.
IMG_7290
You couldn’t imagine how dark it was outside! This was on 10 seconds exposure.
It’s in the dead of night way up north and in the middle of the forest.
All of this just so we could see the aurora ๐Ÿ™‚
It’s dark because there was none ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_7295
The tepee. And a sky full of clouds.
Yeah, no stars for us either ๐Ÿ™‚

The absolute highlight of this adventure was peeing in this ratchet toilet!!!!! Who would’ve thought!
I remember this well. It was dark and there was a bunch of people crowding around the two sheds with their phones’ flash on, which was no surprise because it was so dark outside.
So I asked them if those were the toilets and they were like yea, but there’s no light and no flush and the door is made of glass and there’s no lock! LOLLLLLLLL!!!!!
Then they pointed to one and told me that it was vacant and they offered to watch the door for me HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Toilet with a glass door HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE IT
Had to snap a picture of this because it was simply amazing!
Luckily for me, I wasn’t in an overall so peeing wasn’t as difficult for me as it was for the other females. So I put my phone with its light up so I could at least see a little bit. Gotta make sure I actually let go into the toilet bowl, you know?
I was checking out the toilet while dressing, and I decided to peek into the toilet bowl lol and it was absolutely black but I know it’s a garbage bag because… the sound.
There was a bucket of wood chips or sand or whatever, I assume to cover your shit with. But I was peeing and it was cold so I just did away with that. Thank god for the styrofoam seat. They really put in a lot of thought into this toilet. 5 stars.
I’m very glad there were toilet paper rolls in there! Although I can’t wash my hands, it’s all cool. At least I can brag that I peed in a toilet in the middle of the forest in the Arctic Circle.
GOPR0266
When we were walking back to Scandic, we pretty much passed the whole city as the guide told us, and that we’d know our way around when it was a free schedule.

Day 4
IMG_7320
Sausage and ham life before going to Santa Claus Village!
IMG_7325
IMG_7326
IMG_7333
That’s Santa’s office, and the line of posts marks the start of the Arctic Circle!
It was snowing so we couldn’t see the marking on the ground but apparently there’s a line. So dramatic.
IMG_0152
Lol.
Anyway, the kid in line before me wrote Santa a card and the kid was so happy to see him!!
IMG_7379
We had a short while to explore before gathering again, and we spent most of the time queueing to see Santa.
IMG_7364
It was time for reindeer sleigh rides!
IMG_7369
IMG_7371
I was just standing around waiting for our turn as instructed by the guide. I smiled at this kid cos I’m a nice person and he/she (it’s wearing one pink and one blue gloves I can’t even use gender stereotypes) made a snowball and threw it at my leg, not in some act cute or friendly manner but like one fuelled with hatred. WHY? I could very well oops and bash its head into the wooden fence but I didn’t cos I’m nice and also parents.
IMG_7372
IMG_7386
At this point do I realise that reindeers generally live a sad life. They are whipped to walk tourists (us ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ) on sleighs in rounds, their hides used as throws, their antlers become all sorts of tools/decor when they shed, then people drink their milk and eat them too.
IMG_7397
IMG_7430
Back at Santa’s post office.
IMG_7400
IMG_7418
IMG_7402
Of course, I love sending postcards lol
IMG_7406
Especially to myself LOL. Anyway there was a Christmas mailbox, so they send it in time for Christmas no matter when you post your mail. I have received mine. 6 months ago…
IMG_7411
IMG_7409
413.80m of letter to Santa ๐Ÿ™‚ ok
IMG_7421
IMG_7424
Fun
IMG_7433
It started snowing more.
IMG_7435
IMG_7440
IMG_7443
IMG_7461
IMG_7463
IMG_7464
Tour groups are such a waste of time. We were so bored we started walking around to find food.
IMG_7465
I also learnt that ravintola means restaurant.
IMG_7473
IMG_7475
Before we left, the tour guide gave us our certificates for having crossed the Arctic Circle. They really hype it up!! Singapore could have this thing about being on the equator or something.

Back in the city, and back to being bored.
IMG_7477
I’ve always like bingo and wanted to play but there’s nothing in English so I left.
IMG_7479
Dinner at ??? the hotel I guess…
IMG_7481
Post-dinner snack from the supermarket ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 5
IMG_7485
Breakfast at the hotel.

IMG_7493
To Ranua Wildlife Park!!

IMG_7536
Owl
There were so many owls la…
IMG_7552
Long neck duck-shaped owl
IMG_7560
Fake four-paw furry owls. We’re not supposed to be gloveless in such temperatures but I don’t care.
IMG_7563
The guide was feeding the animals as she guided us and I asked if those were frozen chicks and she took it out for me to see hahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_7566
This black fur trotter owl is HUGE! Tried to put my hand for scale but it doesn’t show.
IMG_7569
IMG_7570
IMG_7571
CUTE!!!

THE ARCTIC FOX IS THE CUTEST THING EVER!!!!
IMG_7654
I just wanna touch it but the guide warned that they eat EVERYTHING and that includes fingers.
IMG_7659
FLUFFFFFFF
IMG_7664
Might sacrifice my fingers to see this.
IMG_7667
SO cute!
IMG_7675
Long hair owl
IMG_7676
The sign has FART on it
IMG_7679
Tree branch owl

Had lunch at Wild Arctic Restaurant.
IMG_7680
IMG_7683
Tried a little bit of reindeer meat (right after I pity them) and it’s basically venison without the usual zichar flavours la. Reinvenison.
IMG_7687
I couldn’t care less about the food because there were sleds outside and I wanted to play lol.
IMG_7688
Cheap thrills.

Back in the city. The tour guide really put us in a small city with more than enough time to explore. It’s so annoying!!
IMG_7691
McDonald’s again for Lynette.

Some of the families in the group were planning on going for another aurora hunting tour for a chance. We already travelled halfway across the globe so we wanted to milk it. Walked to Lapland Welcome and booked the tour.
Then we’re on a long bus ride to Kรคtkรคvaara. The guide pointed out some wild animal along the way but I’m like blind and it was dark. I think it was a fox or something and he was saying it’s a sign of good luck. Lol.
We went to a little house to change into thicker clothes and to leave things we don’t need behind. Then we walked up the little hill.
IMG_7703
It was so dark. The above was on 25 seconds exposure.
IMG_7708
30 seconds. I knew our chances of seeing the northern lights are lower than 1%.
IMG_7715
Cold and tired, tepees are the best.
IMG_7722
Got to grill my own sausage. It was more like shoving it in the fire than letting the heat cook the sausage.
IMG_7724
IMG_7726
Nuggets time!
IMG_7731
Also buns. The variety they have here is great!
IMG_7733
It was so dark I had to constantly take photos of my food with the flash on to check if it’s done.
IMG_7735
Well, shit.
IMG_7737
There’s wife material and then there’s assassin material.
IMG_7739
Everybody’s desperate HAHAHAHA
IMG_7750
30 seconds.
IMG_7760
We were then instructed to melt some horseshoes. SUPER COOL!!!!!
IMG_7761
COOL!!!!!
We had to dump the molten metal into a bucket of iced water and whatever comes out will tell our fortune.
IMG_7765
My mother’s was good and looks smooth and like a Guan Yin Ma.
IMG_7764
When I put my molten metal in, it exploded. When she scooped it out, I was like WHY IS IT IN PIECES? The guide said “oh no” under her breath OMG and I panicked LOL????? Then she said “Money. Lots of money.” and quickly walked away. ?????????? She’s just saying what I love hearing but…
Anyway, I put them in a pocket of the rented overalls but forgot them when I left ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_7771
30 seconds.
We left after everyone gave up hope.

Day 6
IMG_7780
Last breakfast at Scandic.
The whole day was just wasting away in the city while waiting for our flight back to Helsinki. I cannot emphasise how bad the tour itinerary was.

IMG_7788
IMG_7789
IMG_7792
At the snowmobile lake and it’s water now.
IMG_7796
IMG_7797
IMG_7801
IMG_7811

IMG_7813
Went to Roka for lunch.
IMG_7812
Very cute decor ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_7822
Fish and chips and a… I forgot… French toast maybe?

IMG_7825
Late afternoon at Rovaniemi airport for a flight back to Helsinki.
IMG_7828
You know I always sit at the window because I love looking out of it.
IMG_7830
And then in the corner of my eye I saw this patch of green and I was like OMG? COULD IT BE? I was so hopeful la.
It was the reflection of someone’s green jacket.

At Helsinki, we checked into Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti then went out to explore. I don’t know why we pay tour guides so much when we are on our own most of the time. We just want the bulk pricing for accommodation, flights and activities. Sorry I keep shitting on tour groups but…
IMG_7831
Anyway, the produce at the supermarket looks so good!!
It was really late so most things were near closing.
IMG_7838
Had chicken fries at Burger King because at that time it was new (not in Singapore, at least), and chicken fries sound like a novelty I can’t give up.
IMG_7839
Winter but I just wanted this squeezy soft-serve from a machine at a convenience store. This chocolate one was so yummy!! Had chocolate bits in it!

Day 7
#casiaintallinn
IMG_7843
Hotel breakfast.
IMG_7844
Went to West Harbour for a ferry to Tallinn, Estonia! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_7845
Very excited to visit a totally new country ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_7847
Very suaku of me to be so fascinated by cars onboard a ship lol…
IMG_7848
IMG_7849
Fought with the cold to catch the sunrise but it was cloudy and lame so we went in.

Arrived at the Port of Tallinn.
IMG_7863
Greeted with a gloom to match my soul.
IMG_7868
Tour bus took us all around the city and to places of interest. All the while, the guide went on and on about Tallinn’s history and USSR. History is interesting not on a bus because I’m occupied with other sights ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_7873
IMG_7884
I’m not very happy with being on a bus because the architecture everywhere was smashing but I couldn’t take time to admire them.
IMG_7896
IMG_7897
Desperate.
IMG_7887
Cool beans!
IMG_7901
IMG_7902
IMG_7903
Enough for me to conclude that Tallinn’s a really quaint place that would’ve been better if the sky wasn’t overcast. Also really sad that I don’t have Internet in Estonia, so I couldn’t check-in wherever I went and I have no idea what everywhere I went was called and stuff T__T
IMG_7905
!!!!
IMG_7909

IMG_7907
I just wanna say I dig the architecture here! They’re just so cute!!

This is the only building I have a check-in at! It’s Tallinna Toomkirik (I had to Google this to match it to my picture because I can’t remember anything OMG!!), which is St. Mary’s Cathedral.

IMG_7935
IMG_7920
Then there was this seagull that was just chilling.

IMG_7948
It’s the same exact wall but the colour is just another.

IMG_7950
IMG_7953
IMG_7955
Is that Invader????
IMG_7956
I remember being quite pissed off with our tour guide at this point because he was behind schedule and was rushing us and it was raining like hell and hella cold. He wanted us to meet at the restaurant we were having lunch at but he was gonna be somewhere else first and all that. So annoying!
IMG_7959
IMG_7962

Thanks to not having Internet I have no idea where I actually had lunch but the above could be it.
IMG_7981
Was a basement thing going on with a rather satisfying buffet spread.
IMG_7987
IMG_7989
IMG_7990
Tallinn Old Town is deliberately being so extra cute everywhere I can’t handle it!
IMG_7996
IMG_7998
Found the post office so I just sent myself a postcard full of stamps lol.

IMG_8011
IMG_8012
IMG_8013
Finally the sky was clearing up and it was so damn blue. What luck did we have for this whole trip?
IMG_8015
IMG_8016
IMG_8019

We were back at the port.
IMG_8021
On the ferry back to Helsinki, we ate the stuff we got from Rukis.
IMG_8026
Pavlova was so good ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_8024
And my mum bought these for the sole reason that they looked cute. It’s for my grandmother because she’s a deprived alcoholic lol.

We went shopping a little bit back in Helsinki, then had dinner at Eerikin Pippuri Kebab.
IMG_8028
Looks like something I wouldn’t eat but I probably just took all the sauce-stained things out.

Day 8
IMG_8030
Hotel breakfast. It’s no secret I really like ham. And sausages.

Honestly, I can’t tell if I really liked Suomenlinna, or that I just liked that the weather’s much nicer than it was the rest of the trip and the light was hitting everything. But it’s definitely a lovely place!

Then we’re on the bus again to go to a church.

IMG_8146
Especially the leaky walls!

IMG_8147
IMG_8150
Very cute golden M!!!!!
IMG_8151
Had quite little time to explore Helsinki.
We spent a lot of time just waiting in Rovaniemi which was too small, and yet we have hardly any time to walk around Helsinki. HONESTLY!!!!!
IMG_8152
When I saw this I just LOLed because Long Wall.
IMG_8157
Had dinner of pizza and wings and fries at Pizzeria Sky Express.

We went back to the hotel. Then waited. Then took the bus to Helsinki Airport for our flight back to Singapore.
IMG_8158
IMG_8159
This part, the tour guide just about visibly pissed everyone off. We reached so late, although we could’ve left much earlier so that we could do everything at a normal pace. It was a red eye flight so everything was closing or closed but everyone wants tax refund. There was only minutes left after check-in before the tax refund booth closed, and it was all the way at the other end of the airport. And so many people were running, luggage in tow. I didn’t want to but my mum was like forcing me to go here and there and I’m like ????????? The tour guide did nothing of help. LOL the other families were complaining non-stop about everything too.
IMG_8160
Went to almost@home lounge before boarding for some snacks.

It was 2 in the morning when we were in the air.

DINNER TIME!!!
HAHAHA I love their very loose concept of meal times. I support it.
Then sleep time.
IMG_8167
Breakfast time!! It’s 4pm in Singapore but 11am in Finland.
Quite disappointing in comparison to the dinner. But I love airplane food anyway! ๐Ÿ˜€

So, later in the week on Wednesday when I was early in Japanese class, I told my teacher I didn’t manage to see the northern lights. And you know what he said? He told me one of his students was in Finland and shared a picture of the aurora she saw just the day before. OMG. I’M SHIT OUT OF LUCK?! Guess I’ll have to make a trip up north again.

Ok, I started on this post 2-3 weeks before my Korea trip. I was intending to write this, and also my solo Kansai trip so that I can have some chronological order on this blog. But of course, it seems the latter will be delayed again! That’s because I realised a lot of photos weren’t even out of the memory cards yet .___. I was just so busy (and mostly lazy) when school started and somehow procrastinated for beyond a year. I’m hoping I won’t be lazy in Korea and I’ll try to blog weekly or more frequently. Excited!!!

1 Day in Batam

#casiainbatam Flickr

I went to Batam with Marissa last week! She paid for my share of the Groupon deal as a belated birthday present LOL thanks BBG (no, it’s not babygirl (she’s turning 20 this year!), it’s Batam Bebek Goreng). For $40 + $20 ferry tax + $6.50 ferry tax, I find this trip a darn good steal! Which explains why so many people have gone on the exact same tour (literally the whole itinerary). Google it!

Even then, I won’t spare anyone of this stupid image of the store front of Chocolate House, which was the first stop upon leaving Sekupang Ferry Terminal.
P6160267
Honestly quite boring and the whole bus (15 tourists) went in and out empty-handed.
P6160268

P6160273
Went to Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Buddhist Temple!
P6160274
It is filled with the Laughing Buddha.
P6160271
P6160272
There’s a whole stretch of super cute statues but I only took photo of this because he was in one of the most comfortable positions ever.
P6160269
P6160275
*can’t be bothered to straighten this picture or wait for the roads to clear*
P6160287
At this point I was really hungry and lunch was hours away T_T
P6160291
P6160292
Found a sign pointing to a restaurant and, from the other end of the aisle I saw a signboard that said “vegetarian restaurant”! I nearly wept! Of course there wasn’t gonna be any meat in a temple T_T
P6160294
But soon I found out why the Buddha was laughing. Or Buddhas were laughing.
P6160295
THIS.
My fondest memory of Batam when I was there a decade ago was their fried potato tossed in flavouring powders.
P6160299
And while this takes on a new shape, IT WAS AMAZING AND WAS ONLY 50 CENTS A STICK!!!!!!!!!!! I got one more but that one was cut too thin and chip-like crispy. Still, I should’ve gotten all of them!!!

Next was boring shopping at ??????
P6160301
Magnum was $1.80 so I had to buy it right? Not really… it wasn’t very yummy and I should’ve eaten other wacky ice-cream.

P6160312
Lapis of lapis at Batam Layer Cakes. Didn’t get to try samples because it was so crowded and I just didn’t want to squeeze in. Bought a box of kueh lapis with prunes for my mum because she told me to buy one if it was below $30, and it was strategically $29 lol. It smelled really good but the layers were a mess of waves and they tasted ok, although I’m no big fan of kueh lapis… (I LOVE BAUMKUCHEN THOUGH)

P6160314
FINALLY it was lunch time!!! This seafood lunch at Golden Prawn 933 is included in the package. Talk about value!!
P6160317
It was not bad!
P6160318
Except I limited myself to eating rice + calamari (yum) + this corn soup made of starch (unexpectedly yum). Because I don’t eat gong gong, sambal kangkong is coated in sambal, the fish was fried and bony and slightly spicy so I gave up trying, every prawn was stained with mayonnaise except one (so I ate that one), and I had nobody to help me with the crab and it didn’t have the giant pincer (the only part I know how to eat without assistance).

We were going around Golden City and we were at this stop for activities.
P6160319
$6 for 15 arrows. Bullseye and I’ll get a free ride on the flying fox.
P6160327
But I sucked T_T
P6160331
So did Marissa. She also offered to pay $6 for me to fly through a jungle and over a pond.
P6160340
Putting on my harness as I stared at what might kill me.
P6160338
The biggest challenge was really trying to scale this tower on steep stairs with only one side of rails to hold on to. So I was grabbing on to dear life with both hands because I would plunge to my death if I were to slip. I should have been belayed before ascending lor T_T
P6160347
Jumping off, it was quite lame and not exactly fast or anything…
P6160348
Before I left I asked the dude how I was gonna get down and he said his friend is at the other end. So ok.
BUT when I was approaching the end THERE WAS NOBODY???? So I was like “OMG HOW DO I STOP? I AM GOING TO DIE?”
P6160351
Then they slowly appeared and pushed a ladder to me LOL. Everybody was laughing? Sadistic as hell??? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
P6160352
P6160354
First time on a zip-line and I survived! WHO’S LAUGHING NOW????
P6160357
P6160360
Sisters Rivlyn and Rivy (Ikr I thought my name was unconventional) were the only ones other than myself to do stuff here lol.

P6160362
Go-kart!!!!!!
P6160364
They give us shower caps to reduce the grossness of shared helmets but man do they smell terrible. Mine was damp and the face shield wouldn’t stay up nor down so it’s part smelly and part obstructed vision.
I chose the faster vehicle but they gave me a bloody slow one so instead of zoom zoom I was looking at people overtaking me and all .__.

Then everyone was going into a massage parlour and I decided to spend an hour in the vicinity instead.
P6160370
Walking out they were like trying to sell me drinks and I saw coconut (ya they were all on the ground and literal roadside) so I told them “You sell coconuts? Ok. I’ll come back later. Maybe.”
Took a long time to cross the road to a mall and went to a smelly arcade (mostly adults smoking with like 5 kids around) and exchanged tickets for 2 erasers LOL. Really wanted to play basketball but the kids were hogging the machines and when I returned expecting them to be done, I saw that they have claimed a basketball and was playing soccer with it.
Took an even longer time to cross over again.
P6160373
Got 10 sticks of chicken satay for $1.50 O__O
P6160376
They asked “Rice?” and I said no and I still got rice? What are they earning??? O__O
P6160378
Not bad but they’re so skimpy with meat (I understand completely)($1.50 leh, how to hiam) and most of them had only 2 chunks.
P6160384
Went to get a coconut. They have pushed a punctured cart to the roadside and put some coconuts on it and called it a stall LOL. The flesh was so tender ๐Ÿ˜€ the juice wasn’t perfect but it didn’t taste bad. It was also $1.50.

Went to BCS Mall. Found an optometry selling frames with prescription lenses for only $18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also found a really cute frosted pink frame but it would take 2 days for it to be done and I was returning to Singapore the next day T_T
P6160387
Was on the bus and suddenly the front burst into song because it was Rivlyn’s birthday and they had a cake LOL happy birthday Rivlyn!

It was 5pm when the bus left to take everyone to the ferry terminal or their hotels. I was really pissed having to sit in the bus for more than 2 hours when I really want to go to Nagoya Hills and grab some A&W for dinner! Why were we the last? T_T
P6160388
21st floor at Nagoya Mansions.
P6160389

Went out and walked in the dark to Nagoya Hills. It was 8pm ๐Ÿ˜ก
P6160393
Also had to witness something disturbing while I was trying to grab a shot of the mosque and I didn’t even have time to compose or focus anything and we left.
P6160394
BAE!!!
P6160395
Got myself a kid meal because I wanted an A&W pencil case.
P6160396
Also upgraded my root beer to a float and got curly fries.
P6160397
Their chicken is so much better than KFC’s I don’t understand why A&W left Singapore!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
P6160398
Bought a waffle even though I was already pregnant with non-stop feeding and was super full, because my mum swears by A&W’s waffles. What a disappointment having to bite into hard batter which only tasted good at the end when my ice-cream made it soggy…

Went to Hypermart on the hunt for mi goreng ๐Ÿ˜€
P6160401
It was a wall of instant noodles!! I got 10 packs of Indomie’s ๐Ÿ˜€
P6160402
P6160403
Their Yakult was a tad smaller (why?) but a 5-pack was only 85 cents?!?!?!?! I didn’t buy it. Hahahaha. Why?????

Went back to the hotel by taxi. $5 is a rip-off but it was late. Bathed and slept to the monotonous voice of documentaries (one of the best ways to sleep even though they’re entertaining) some time around midnight after being awake for god knows how long?
I woke up the day before at 5.30pm because I was dreaming I was a Hogwarts student and was involved in a war and waking up at 2.30pm I went back to sleep to resume the great action LOL. Then I couldn’t sleep so I stayed up and only intermittently napped otw to the hotel. Basically I didn’t sleep for the whole of Tuesday and more.

P6170404
Woke up and heard Marissa in the shower so I was like wth what time is it now? So I checked and it was 6am. Turns out Marissa didn’t know what time it was and didn’t even bother to check HAHAHAHAHA!
P6170405
Hotel breakfast with Marissa’s colleague who was also staying at the hotel.
P6170406
Sunnies on toast darn good ๐Ÿ˜€ (of course, I brought the toast to the egg station myself)

P6170407
On the bus to Batam Centre I wanted to take photos of the ‘Welcome to Batam’ sign in the forest but I hesitated and missed everything. I should’ve filmed the beautiful roundabout. Why was my camera inside my bag and not around my neck anyway? :/

Had time to spare before boarding our ferry back and we crossed over to Mega Mall. Marissa wanted to eat KFC but then she was like “aiya we can eat that in Singapore. Let’s eat A&W again.” LOL!
P6170412
P6170413
YUM
P6170414
Chicken soup was nice! Lots of chicken chunks and vegetables in it ๐Ÿ˜€
P6170415
God is real.

P6170418
Back to Singapore.
The end!

Yesterday morning Fiona called me and asked if I had my passport. She wanted me to go to JB today to eat. OF COURSE I WANTED TO. But I have class in the evening and I don’t know how to return to Singapore by myself LOL.
The end (of sad story of the adventure that never happened)!

Day 8

Last day and Yuxuan wanted to sleep in. I woke up early and walked all the way down to Sendagaya to look for a unicycle shop. I was bent on getting one here because I have no idea where mine went and I’ve not even learnt how to ride one yet.
It was raining and windy and I was dying trekking from the apartment past Harajuku station T_T Checked the temperature to see if I was going to make it alive. 3ยฐC. Nope. I decided to steal an abandoned umbrella if I chanced upon one. I found one!!! It was damaged T_T Continued my journey in the rain and finally found Sendagaya Elementary School. It was a miracle considering my atrocious map-reading skills.
I was too early and I needed a place to shelter myself and get breakfast. Apparently 8.30am was too early for shops to be opened -____- So I went into a combini and got microwaved bento for breakfast…
IMG_6536
Slowly I began to feel at my fingers again ๐Ÿ™‚ 8 days and I didn’t manage to get a pair of gloves .__.
Went to look for the shop again now that I have found the street. Crap. I didn’t know how to read addresses. How shall I find the building?? Asked a passerby and in that absurd weather he kindly obliged (although I was absolutely clueless as to what he was muttering) and even shared his umbrella with me LOL! Ok, we were just a few units past it and then I found the place! Thanked him and I went up.
Became illiterate when I entered the office. Also found out they had only one model left in stock and I had to pre-order online for the model I want because it just so happens I didn’t have enough yen on me to buy what’s there -______-
Such a torturous and pointless trip T_T Anyway, it’s still manufacturing and I can only expect it to arrive after July T_T

Walked back to Harajuku station and concluded I would die if I continued on foot so I took a short train ride to the next stop and relished in its warmth. Went back into the apartment to find Yuxuan about to abandon me with a note LOL. Then she went out shopping and lunching while I snuggled in the duvet to get myself out of hypothermia LOL ๐Ÿ˜€

Packed up and left for Shibuya station around 1pm to catch the Narita Express to the airport!
Like losers we had to give up our seats for someone who reserved it. It was super crowded by then and the train master came by and told us we had to exchange our stub for a reserved seat ticket -___- There was no such instructions on the stub??? T_____T
image
That aside, the toilet is a dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Narita Airport was not messy but we got lost for a while .__.
image
Found Traveler’s Factory and bought a bunch of MTN goodies for cheap!!! I mean to start on a journal but I haven’t touched it yet lol. I will soon (I last said the same thing 2 months ago LOL). It was here I exhausted all my yen and was left with no more than $2.
IMG_6538
Ebi kakiage udon for late lunch I paid Yuxuan in SGD for because I told you I had no more yen hahahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6539
Saw ice-cream in a vending machine and it was my last vending machine moment ๐Ÿ˜ฅ so I found just enough coins to buy this Lady Borden one and it was yummy!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

image
Goodbye sakura land T_T
THEN
A siren sounded and the plane came to a halt .__.
With all these aviation disasters lately, I bought a travel safety omamori at a shrine and had it in my duffel bag overhead. Nothing’s gonna happen!
That’s right… the plane didn’t even take off yet!!! The flight was delayed for 1.5 hours.
Was thirsty as hell and asked for some water. Flight attendant was like sure ๐Ÿ˜€ but then she got her crew and started from the top and served EVERYONE water while I slowly let the drought in my mouth take me. You’re welcome guys… ;___;
Watched the sky turned dark as I weeped internally. There goes my chance at a glimpse of Mt. Fuji .__. In fact, both my window seats had been disrupted and I just ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
The plane took off and I was dejected with the vast darkness out there so I promptly went to the toilet and removed my contacts before the meals came.

Bloody hell. I looked out after that and the night sky was sprinkled with the most magnificent glitter T____T I strained and strained by my myopia wouldn’t let me admire at the stars at all T_T
So I turned to my camera. Also used the blanket to block out the internal lights and reflections but…
IMG_6551
What the…?
IMG_6547
It wouldn’t focus…
IMG_6544
And then the wing’s light started to fight for attention…
IMG_6540
I just wished you guys could see the stars (jk I wished I could see the stars) with close to none of those city light pollutions.

image
The problem with blogging 2 months late is that I have no idea what these are anymore .___.
I just know the potatoes were awesome ๐Ÿ˜€
So I reached Singapore after intermittent naps and movies… and since then I have never not complained about the humidity of this tropical island.

THE END. (Finally) (I thought this would never end) (YAY!)

Day 7

Had we planned earlier, we could’ve moved to a place closer to Maihama since we had to take this long route twice for two consecutive days. But no biggie because bento ๐Ÿ˜€ I want to buy every bento there is but I can’t ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_6363
Saw this cutie octopus bowl at Gindaco somewhere in Tokyo station so… I bought it.
IMG_6364
Although it was stained with mayonnaise and tartar everywhere T_T it’s too cute!!
IMG_6365
It was a bowl of delicious lies. Fake tako (hotdog). Fake takoyaki (delicious potatoes). I swear both of us were fooled into thinking they were takoyaki!!!!! Very delicious soboro don nonetheless ๐Ÿ˜€
Continued our journey to Disneyland after yummy breakfast of deceit lol…

IMG_6377
We didn’t have to take a monorail to Disneyland but the walk was so pleasant.
IMG_6376
IMG_6375
The sky was gloomy and I think that contributed to a theme park that was surprisingly not crowded ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6374
Why am I still the only person in colour?? :/
IMG_6367
Upon entering, some excited caucasian beamed and said “sumimasen!!” and we both just huh??? LOL he thought it was “hello” and Yuxuan (using new found knowledge) told him “sumimasen” means “excuse me” HAHAHAHA ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_6378
First thing we saw was a queue to Mickey! In fact, the whole ground was sprinkled with mascots ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6379
IMG_6380
IMG_6381
Flowers everywhere ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6382
Took a picture with Fairy Godmother because she had no queue at all (poor thing) but of course!! Her face is immensely creepy T__T Still really funny Yuxuan cried (out of happiness) when she hugged her OMG hahahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6385
IMG_6387
Distracted by Tweedledum/Tweedledee… Don’t know how I managed to capture a shot with all faces looking totally high??
IMG_6389
IMG_6392
Who could care about the little pigs when there’s a little Donald Duck soooooo cute!!!!!
IMG_6393
He waddled like a duck too! Not sure if it’s normal diaper baby walk or he’s really good at cosplay at such a young age ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6394
Why can kids get away with lying on the ground yet when I do it people ask me “hobo ah?”
IMG_6395
Daisy didn’t give a shit about us T____T I really should have lied about my birthday, get a sticker and get special treatment ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_6396
Disney marketing game strong.
IMG_6397
The day just started and this princess already bought something? My childhood pales looking at the lives of the many kids here!!

(photo stolen from Yuxuan)
Was gonna pass my camera to Yuxuan but her mother offered instead. Yuxuan took this too!
IMG_6398
She also knows she’s a princess. They don’t cosplay. They completely transform. Like that baby Donald.
IMG_6399
Donald!!!!!!!!!!!! I like Donald Duck but turns out he doesn’t like me ๐Ÿ˜ฆ No photos for me ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

(picture stolen from Yuxuan)
Yuxuan was chasing him as he walked away and he looked into her camera!!!! I happened to photobombed her shot so… I had a picture with Donald! ๐Ÿ™‚ *delusional*
IMG_6400
Pluto! He was about to walk away so we chased after him… He was like hi and all that then he got distracted by a baby in a stroller and ran away!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_6401
But I finally got a picture with him lol. The cons of going to Disneyland when you are no longer a child by age ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

IMG_6402
The bicycle piano!!!!
IMG_6403
The pianist (in super cute Easter getup) also behaved like a rabbit, hopping up and down WHILE playing crazy happy tunes.
IMG_6404
HELLA COOL!!!!!!!!

IMG_6406
IMG_6409
IMG_6413
Hello MTV and welcome to my crib ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6415
All these people on my driveway!
IMG_6416
Duck in my flowerbed!

IMG_6428
Beautiful mosaic walls retelling the story of Cinderella ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6429
IMG_6430
I thought she ran DOWN the stairs though…
Entered this dazzling glass shop called The Glass Slipper, meant for filthy rich people to flaunt their wealth I think.
IMG_6432

IMG_6431
IMG_6433
Was scorning at the crazy price of this castle model and a tourist heard me and LOLed. It’s crazy.
IMG_6435

Hippity-Hoppity Springtime!!!!!!!!
IMG_6436
They had raincoats on because of the wet weather LOL!
IMG_6437
IMG_6439
The song was really nice too hahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6440
IMG_6441
IMG_6442
Marie is too cute!
IMG_6443
Minnie waved AT me (I don’t care if there’s a kid behind me ok… it’s me she’s waving to) ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_6445
Castle Carousel.
IMG_6447
Thought of Julie Andrew’s carousel horse Jingles at the other Disneyland. I love Julie Andrews ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6448
I tried to take a mirror selfie but it was unsuccessful.
IMG_6451
I LOVE the dรฉcor of the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall, both inside and out!
IMG_6452
The facade of It’s A Small World is so cute!
IMG_6486
Walked past it again later just in time for the 15-minute interval ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6485
Wanted to take a video but I was too slow and naaahhhhhhh….
IMG_6453
IMG_6454
Gadget’s Go Coaster was surprisingly fun despite being made for kids :/

IMG_6455
Impressive pulley dรฉcor that people probably pay no heed.
IMG_6456
Intrigued by this little Goofy spinning popcorns ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s all the little details that kill me ^__^
IMG_6457
Disney’s topiary really are the top ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6488
IMG_6458
Space Mountain was really fun!! It’s super fast and seems to go on for very long. The lighting was cool but after a while I died X__X
IMG_6459
Grand Circuit Raceway I found super fun but Yuxuan disliked it…
IMG_6462
IMG_6469
I think it’s because it’s my first time behind the wheel (albeit fake V___V) after 1 year 2 months 3 days since getting my licence -____-
IMG_6471
This was my second ride where Yuxuan became a parent (like Amanda’s father lol) who takes photos for me hahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6477
Reckless driver lol.
IMG_6481
IMG_6482

IMG_6484
Haunted Mansion is one of my favourites ๐Ÿ˜€ We all know I’m a pussy at horror stuff and I was shitting bricks getting into the buggy. Turns out it was a joy ride with the most spectacular visuals nowhere near creepy! The buggy goes slowly and rotates you to the appropriate scene of focus. Holography everywhere!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
My happiness doesn’t end when the ride does because it was even funnier at the exit!!!!!!
IMG_6483
The funniest headstones EVER. We were the only ones laughing, possibly because the bulk of visitors are Japanese?
Ray N Carnation – Reincarnation hahaha
Rustin Peese – Rest in peace hahahaha
Sue Pernatural – Supernatural hahahahaha
I. L. Beback – I’ll be back HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
M. T. Tomb – Empty tomb HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I had a great laugh standing there regardless of all the stares ๐Ÿ˜€

(photo stolen from Yuxuan)

IMG_6487
6 Goofys. I don’t know how a group of friends can agree to buying a bright orange sweater and bright green beanie? Do they wear them only in Disney or…? Anyway, while I’m obsessed with bindis, the Japanese are sticking stickers on their faces and sometimes gems and rhinestones all over their faces haphazardly. I need to live in Japan???
IMG_6489
Lunch at Pan Galactic Pizza Port!
IMG_6490
Got a chicken? mushroom? tomato? calzone. It tasted ok…
IMG_6491
No idea what these were but I bought them for the container #marketingbait. Yummy little mochis? with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry fillings.
IMG_6492
IMG_6493
IMG_6494
IMG_6495
IMG_6496
I can’t remember if we took Splash Mountain (I have a vague impression we did).
Confused with Big Thunder Mountain where Yuxuan lost her week-old iPhone 6.
Anyway, after understanding how the lockers were not really useful as you have to bring all your belongings on board rides, I brought a tote bag to carry all my stuff on top of my super useful mackintosh. Yuxuan just put her phone in her pocket and her phone flew out mid-ride?
TIP: Don’t rent lockers if you don’t have to

Rode Beaver Brothers Explorer Canoes because I really wanted to boat. Please don’t. Arms would ache just trying to turn out -____-
Pirates of the Caribbean… great series, terrible ride. The most boring ride going at the slowest pace forcing us to admire the workmanship of the puppets… And smelled like chlorine -___-
By now you should also realise that my ride sequence is all jumbled up because we browsed in orderly fashion but the Fast Passes are a mess.

IMG_6497
Woody! Bastard kept turning the other way avoiding my direction as I followed him about 300ยฐ before he saw me -____-
IMG_6499
And finally accepted my presence ๐Ÿ˜€

(photo stolen from Yuxuan)
Jessie was busy signing some kid’s autograph book and Yuxuan tried to stealth a selfie (with success) but she turned around and gestured us to wait (but she never did bother about us after that). See guys, all you parents please bring your children to Disney if you can because when you’re not a little baby you are nothing to them!!!!
IMG_6501
IMG_6502
IMG_6503
Really wanted to ride the Mark Twain Riverboat but we gave it a miss as we were pressed for time…
IMG_6504

We went to the visitor lounge area to report her phone loss and then to where she believed she lost her phone. Then she waited there in the ultra cold wind while they looked for it.
I went to eat at Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall. It was so bold of us to just part ways with literally zero form of communications (she had no phone and the pocket wifi was in the locker) but we reunited when I paid for my food.
IMG_6505
IMG_6506
IMG_6507
IMG_6508
Ordered more things than I could eat and Yuxuan refused to share!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roasted chicken! Not bad ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6512
At the end of the line the server asked if I wanted rice or bread. She didn’t say it like it was an optional thing. So I was like uhhh bread. -____- I wished I didn’t uhhh bread.
IMG_6514
When I saw this, I burst out laughing (mind you, I was alone in the queue) and decided to get it since it wasn’t that big nor expensive. About 5″ diameter for like $13 or so, so why not!!! It looked and tasted super fresh too!!!!! It was really delicious albeit too creamy to solo without discarding cream (Yuxuan wouldn’t even take ONE bite for me).
image
“Happy Unbirthday” is pretty much the best phrase yet. I believe in celebrating EVERY day and with cake (although I don’t practise this yet (I will someday)) because every day is important, and Happy Unbirthday is just about the best excuse to eat cake on a day not your birthday!!! I love it ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_6517
Hurried to get a spot for “Once Upon A Time“, the castle projection ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6519
IMG_6520
We found a really good spot, everyone was seated and the view was unobstructed except for a stupid umbrella.
P4070104
Then suddenly, there was an announcement that it would be cancelled due to the weather T________T
SERIOUSLY????????? Nobody gives a shit about the wet floor!! Then we left T____T
Yuxuan got a coffee and an announcement came again. It was a glimmer of hope in all the sorrow of the gloomy doomy night. The show would resume in 15 minutes if the weather improves!!!!!!!!!
Ran back right quick and everyone was standing T___T
IMG_6523
!!!!!!!! Ganchiong cannot focus -__-
So I turned to using my phone instead. What a terrible idea to get all the grains .___. (also because my memory card of both cameras were on the brink of full capacity).

*gasp*
I was going to film the whole thing and somewhere around the Alice in Wonderland part, my camera beeped because it had no more memory T___T So I deleted the great clip I sacrificed my arm for (I held the thing up for a good 10 minutes at least) to make space for the fireworks.

You’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ Also thought the Beast scene was cool with all the lightning and I got lucky with some pyrotechnics although it wasn’t the end yet.
IMG_6524
Everyone promptly exited the compound when it’s shut off. Amazingly orderly and quietly too.

Yes, I like Elsa. Because she’s hella cool. I also like Rapunzel but… Elsa speaks Hokkien and it’s the best thing ever. Behold the best parody of that overplayed sickening song!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely lost it after the part where she stepped on the ground and the snowflake appeared and laughed until I teared. Elsa ki chu show I died again. I love this so much.
Anyway, I think I See The Light from Tangled is an even better song that should have been overplayed on radio instead.

I wrote and sent a postcard to myself from Disneyland too!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Received both a few days after my return ^_______^

I hope everyone goes to Disneyland/DisneySea and send me postcards just because I get a kick out of it and appreciate snail mail. I can dream on.

Ok. Then we went back and I should think Yuxuan got supper and I didn’t because she ate nothing and I ate enough for 3. There’s one more post left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 6

Went to Tokyo station to change lines and bought bento for breakfast!
IMG_6037
Small variety where we were so I settled for a siew mai bento lol.
IMG_6038
The sides were all delicious but the rice was hard ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_6039
Bought cafรฉ au lait from a vending machine because the can looked cute and said ใŠใ„ใ—ใ„! But when I drank it, it was totally ใŠใ„ใ—ใใชใ„ ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Tasted more like diabetes-inducing coffee-flavoured milk.
Going to Tokyo Disney Resort is not difficult at all once you find yourself at Tokyo station. Just look for someone dressed up as a Disney character or is carrying a bag loaded with Disney plushies (mostly Duffy). It’s obvious. And following them will get you onto a train towards Maihama!

IMG_6042
!!!!!! Bought the 2-day passport online before the prices went up!! First day we went to Tokyo DisneySea!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_6055
There’s this really cute but shy girl sitting next to us and at one point she was staring right into my camera BUT Yuxuan was blocking me and I mouthed to her about 30 times “move your hand away move your hand away” and when she finally did, she looked out of the window. Dammit ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

We didn’t take any transportation other than the Disney Resort Line so I didn’t know which Tomica to buy so I didn’t buy any ๐Ÿ˜ฆ That’s really unwise…

IMG_6081
IMG_6082
There was a crowd gathered round the Mediterranean Harbor for Fashionable Easter and we were at the backside so we just went as close to the waters as possible to check it out.

IMG_6118
DUFFY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ShellieMay and Mickey and Minnie! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6119
You know what could improve Marina Bay? DisneyBay. It’d be bae.
Somewhere here, I spotted an e-ticket on the floor so I checked if it was mine. Mine was in my pocket. It was Yuxuan’s. OMG had I not seen it I don’t know how we’re gonna go to Disneyland the next day!!!!!

IMG_6146
Everyone wishes everywhere. Not just wishing wells.
IMG_6147
We’re in the queue for 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea because it wasn’t very long.
IMG_6149
We were 20,000 leagues in a really slow roller coaster tricking us into thinking we’re in a submarine hahahahaha! Don’t go if you are not a baby.

IMG_6154
The Japanese are crazy for Disney and also matching outfits. In a row here you can see 3 different outfits. I think one of them got lost because there shouldn’t be an odd number of people.
IMG_6155
Even babies are made to match their mums. So this was how they were raised…

IMG_6152
IMG_6153
Mermaid Lagoon seemed promising but actually was made for little babies so we left really quick.

IMG_6163
IMG_6165
It actually feels like travelling around the world walking around TDS, except without drastic temperature fluctuations or change in culture lol… The only change there is is probably the unique popcorn flavours available exclusively at each area.
IMG_6166
IMG_6167
We were queueing up for Caravan Carousel, which was a 2-STOREY CAROUSEL OMG!!!!!!
IMG_6168
IMG_6170
It looks exactly the same and felt no different… I think we chose it so we could brag about being on the upper deck of a carousel #swag.
IMG_6171
Birthday princess!!!! I also conveniently DID NOT wish her happy birthday I’m so sorry but happy belated birthday you are super cute!
IMG_6172

IMG_6176
IMG_6178
I thought Adele set fire to the rain… but she also set fire to waterfalls. Or waterstairs. What is this??? Anyway, she just never sang about it. It could be a pyromania she is hiding but we saw it in TDS.

IMG_6180
Time for 2pm lunch!!!!!
IMG_6181
I got myself a kids meal! ๐Ÿ˜€ They always have the yummy stuff no??
IMG_6182
Look at what’s on my ebi fry ๐Ÿ˜ฆ why can’t people realise it’s really not that universally accepted ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

IMG_6187
Went to the Magic Lamp Theatre. I think we got FastPass tickets for it? Or the queue was short.
IMG_6188
Not entirely a wise idea because we both couldn’t understand anything they were saying -___- but at least it was funny!! ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_6189
Was trying to get a picture of Daisy and I randomly shot this and it was so funny so I kept it hahahaha ๐Ÿ˜€ The kid’s such an ingrate though, being so whatever-Disney in Disney! Some of us only visit Disney for the first time when we’re 20!! Oh, there were many kids playing their Nintendo consoles like whatever-Disney. Omg this generation of kids…

IMG_6239
It’s ok ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_6241
The flavour here was (I forgot) milk tea? or something. It had a strange chemical smell and sometimes tasted like puke. The Duffy bucket was probably the only reason it could be sold.
IMG_6246
Duffy bunting I want in my life T_T
IMG_6251
IMG_6252
The queue with the biggest suspense. Hiding Duffy in a nook so nobody can see him T_T
IMG_6253
IMG_6255
Was taking picture of this giant Duffy (I WANT T___T) and they caught me -__- then the guy hid behind it and the girl just burst out laughing LOL you guys are so cute.
IMG_6256
Also saw (didn’t manage to get a photo of) Duffy with a Pooh shirt and I was like since when do they sell that??? then I looked around and found a naked Pooh!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA I have never seen a naked Winnie it’s like looking at Mickey without his pants or Donald without his top LOL!!!!!!
IMG_6257
Hais… professional photographer got a blurry shot with my DSLR T____T

IMG_6269
Tower of Terror. Queued for more than an hour.

IMG_6327
IMG_6330

IMG_6332
My pictures become terrible.
IMG_6333
Got a postcard to send to myself because Disney would put a commemorative stamp on it! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6334
IMG_6335
10pm and got to leave T_T
IMG_6359
What I bought there… Went crazy with the souvenir medallions because 100 yen for that quality I’m in!!!!! Was surprised to find the set of bento picks I got because I didn’t even know I bought them??? LOL what a (not so) waste of 800 yen!

It was midnight when we got back to Shibuya and had dinner!! So famished!!!!!!! Went to Ippudo Shiromaru Base because Ippudo rocks.
IMG_6355
It’s so-so…
IMG_6356
IMG_6358
That was sort of disappointing but I was starving!
Since dinner was supper we had no usual supper. I think…

Also had to ration whatever’s left of my money and not splurge at Disneyland the next day. Ok that’s all! Stay tuned! This ultra long series is coming to an end (finally)!!

Day 4 (continued)

Technically, it’s Day 5 because we were loitering about Shibuya past midnight when we returned from Odaiba.
It was 2am when we were hungry looking for supper because our dinner was sort of lame.
There were quite a few stalls still open and we went into Sushizanmai ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5977
Ordering in Japanese a bunch of stuff was quite tough… especially for two separate persons… but whatever nonsense I spoke went understood so it’s ok ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5976
Tamago! The chef used a huge slab of tamagoyaki and wrapped it in the most peculiar style! Then he cut it in half, and put each on both our plates -___- #tiopian but the egg:rice ratio was good!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5978
Tako! Yum ๐Ÿ˜€
I didn’t order sashimi like I said I would… it’s a branch from the super famous Tsukiji and what if I couldn’t ingest the raw fish T_T I was sitting right in front of the chef ๐Ÿ˜ฆ how can I spit it out if I couldn’t eat it????
IMG_5979
Kani! Said we didn’t want wasabi but he just put a dollop on each. Wasabi looked really different than what we’re used to seeing. It was dark green!!! At first it tasted good (I usually don’t like the taste of wasabi) and it didn’t have that spicy thing that goes up your nose. When I ate the second piece, it went ALL OVER MY FACE. I nearly died it was SO spicy T____T Whatever I ate afterwards just kept tasting like wasabi T___T but it’s really awesome wasabi ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5981
Amaebi! Couldn’t taste this because it was like shrimp-textured wasabi… T_T
IMG_5983
Chawanmushi!
IMG_5984
Very silky smooth and loaded with lots of ingredients ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_5985
Walking back to the apartment and saw some graffiti getting done for the store or something.
IMG_5986
Singaporean graffiti appreciation always much more because we only see commissioned ones .__.

Day 5

Wore the awesome scarf thing I bought in Harajuku!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6027
Walked to Harajuku because we figured out the shortest route walking from our apartment! It was literally a straight road! We stayed in between Shibuya and Harajuku! Omg all that time wasted the day before because I suck at maps -___-
IMG_5988
Walked around Harajuku shopping and finding lunch but for some reason there was no food place in sight…
image
Bought a watch on impulse (I should sell it), and was so amused they gave my paper bag a raincoat!!!!!!!! That’s so considerate and totally cute!!! Then I realised it was a norm and every paper bag in everyone’s hands was donning a raincoat. I love Japan!!!!
IMG_5989
Harajuku’s tourist information centre is soooo cute!! Went in to ask for directions to a yakiniku restaurant and the staff was so friendly and helpful, even though I ended up asking a lot of other questions too, since she spoke English and I won’t know when I can find such assistance ๐Ÿ™‚

Had lunch at Seiko-en, the cheaper one out of the two yakiniku restaurants in the vicinity, the other being Gyu-Kaku ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5993
Opted for buffet but we couldn’t eat a lot so it was quite a waste of money :/
IMG_5992
IMG_5990
This was the starter plate with a standard meat selection.
Those half-moon slices are gyลซtan (beef tongue), which I’d wanted to try. They are actually really yummy!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Tender and more lean than other parts I think.
IMG_5994

After lunch, we split up because Yuxuan wanted to look for boots while I wanted to look for some ulu coffee! Thank god she let me have the pocket Wi-Fi otherwise I’d be lost and meet up an hour later without any coffee -___-
IMG_5995
One hour wasn’t enough time to shop at Omotesando, so I went to look for Omotesando Koffee with the map I got at the information centre.
On the way there, I was really lost because it became streets after streets of residences behind Omotesando Hills. So I asked a deliveryman when he walked past me, who so very kindly showed me the way, although he walked super fast while pushing a trolley loaded with huge stuff.
IMG_6023
He left me at one street and told me to turn left.
IMG_6022
So I found this crowd at this beautiful old house and I couldn’t tell if Omotesando Koffee was actually here. I tried to Google but the maps failed me every single time I tried to use it. So I turned to Foursquare and it was actually the closest location to me… So I just joined the queue :/
IMG_5997
The queue moved a bit after a few minutes before I saw the shop’s sign. It’s so minimalist and small it was obstructed by the people in the queue -____- after seeing this, I calmed down LOL.
IMG_6001
The dรฉcor was so beautiful!! I wasn’t bored standing in line for 30 minutes to order a small cup of supposedly Tokyo’s best coffee.
IMG_6003
The little garden would’ve been so much more beautiful if it weren’t for the rain! But if it weren’t raining, I’d never get this shot because there’d be people on the bench right?
IMG_6004
IMG_6009
I’ve never been so into any shop’s dรฉcor so much! Or I could be really bored standing in line. I doubt it’s the latter.
IMG_6005
IMG_6007
Barista spoke fluent English and for the first time I didn’t have to try so hard and sound illiterate!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6013
Ordered a Baileys cappuccino.
IMG_6010
IMG_6011
I should’ve ordered Omotesando Koffee -___- I mean it was named after the shop! Or the shop was named after the coffee?
IMG_6012
I liked everything about this place!!!
IMG_6014
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMG_6015
I couldn’t get a good photo of it????
IMG_6018
IMG_6017
The coffee was really aromatic and smooth T_T even better than my favourite Oriole Coffee!! ;____;
IMG_6024
The cup’s prints are also so nice ;___;
IMG_6021
It’s coffee worth waiting 30 minutes for. Also, if I come here next time I’ll buy 3 cups for myself because the cup is actually really small.
Was thinking of getting a cup for Yuxuan after I tasted it but the queue was even longer than when I joined it and I had 5 minutes to walk back to our arranged meeting spot. I was a little late getting back :/
IMG_6025
Passed this cool trailer (is it a shop??? It says open!) walking back to Omotesando Hills.

Walked along Cat Street back to Shibuya because the map says it leads us to Shibuya. What the heck, we emerged at the mosaic Astro Boy tunnel!!! We could’ve learnt about it sooner T_T
image
Bought this pair of boots from Scrapbook (Jeanasis) ๐Ÿ˜€ I walked in because I always liked the designs at Jeanasis. Finances stopped me from buying more lol…

IMG_6028
I really like all these mosaic graffiti I see so often!! Found out the artist is Invader ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_6030
Walked around Shibuya looking for dinner. Looking for Yoshinoya, which we somehow just cannot find anywhere although we’ve seen it before. Yuxuan asked some strangers in English while I was looking for non-busy people to ask for directions -____- I have failed. It was right across the street, just really inconspicuous T_T
IMG_6031
I got the gyu-sukinabe-zen because Singapore doesn’t have it.
IMG_6033
It’s damn delicious!!!!!! And affordable!!!!!!!! I want to live in Japan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Continued shopping till most of the shops were closed. We found GU at the very last minute and I liked everything there!!! GU needs to open in Singapore!!!!! There’s more than enough Uniqlo outlets in Singapore already please bring GU here!!!!!! Hurriedly tried on clothes and bought some before it closed!!

After showering we went out looking for 2am supper. Why do we eat supper every day? Hahahaha I think we are just obsessed with combini food ๐Ÿ˜›
image
Bought mini ramen to try ๐Ÿ™‚
image
Turned out quite disappointing ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Maybe Japanese cup noodles taste good only when you are not eating them in the country with even better food everywhere!

Ok that’s all for the Sunday shopping!! Can’t wait to blog about the next two days! Disney!!!!!!! ^____^

Day 4

We were going to Yoyogi Park and with my very bad map-reading, I suggested we start from Shibuya station! ๐Ÿ™‚ Asked a stranger for directions because my map and the city map were both not very useful for a bad navigator. He pointed towards the street we walked every day -___- while uttering a bunch of Japanese that went unheard. So I thanked him and walked towards where he pointed. Of course, we were lost again. So I asked someone else and she, too, started rapping and pointing. But I roughly got it, so we made our way down. Passing where our apartment was. We wasted so much time!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5704
Saw the NHK Broadcasting Center (NHKๆ”พ้€ใ‚ปใƒณใ‚ฟใƒผ) so I know we were on the right track. The directions she gave (and I interpreted) was wrong?? But we just anyhow walked (as usual).

IMG_5705
Outside Yoyogi National Gymnasium (ๅ›ฝ็ซ‹ไปฃใ€…ๆœจ็ซถๆŠ€ๅ ด) we saw lots of colourful cars and tents around.
IMG_5710
It was Outdoor Day!
Suddenly Yuxuan was like “eh Casia! Dippin Dots!” then I’m like !!!!!!!
IMG_5712
So I bought a rainbow one ๐Ÿ˜€ even though it was so cold brrrrrrrrrrr anything for childhood!
IMG_5716
The vendor commented that I was also rainbow!! Hahahaha!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5722
Saw some really good-looking kebab! But I came here for Japanese food!!!! So I passed :/
IMG_5718
I want!!!!
IMG_5724
It was crazy steep why would anyone dare to test drive this on a small little ramp??
IMG_5730
Nice view of the suspension roof on a bridge. On the bridge, Yuxuan’s empty cup flew down onto some tent and the vendors below were all very shocked by what seemed like an imbecile tourist. Said imbecile tourist ran down and apologised but the nice locals offered to discard it for her. Japanese are awesome ๐Ÿ˜€
Wasted a lot of strolling time at this distraction of a fair!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

IMG_5734
We found Yoyogi Park (ไปฃใ€…ๆœจๅ…ฌๅœ’)!!! With lots of street foods!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5735
Omgosh look at this mass of chicken skin :/
IMG_5744
It was already so crowded!! We also wanted to picnic but had no food and no mat -___-.
IMG_5746
Found more stalls along the way and quickly went to get some food for breakfast lol.
IMG_5748
Decided on an okonomiyaki although we had to wait around 10 minutes for it T_T
IMG_5749
IMG_5751
IMG_5753
IMG_5755
IMG_5756
This is obviously not ours. Because of me.
IMG_5760
Also got yakisoba while waiting for the pancake to be ready.
Our initial plan was to buy bento but Shibuya has none???? Especially early in the morning??? T_T
IMG_5761
Tried to look for an unoccupied bench to no avail. It’s the weekends after all ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5764
Found this beautiful ulu sakura petal-lined pathway!!!! ^____^
Being so ulu, we sat on a tree’s root and started our weird botak-view picnic…

Plastic bags were our makeshift leisure sheets, only enough for the food. Even so, we dropped so many bits on the dirt. We picked them up when we were done eating ok!!!
IMG_5765
Oishii!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Between the two I preferred yakisoba because okonomiyaki has a very complex taste lol. But they’re both yummy! ๐Ÿ˜€
image
After eating, we propped up her phone and connected my remote shutter and started taking silly shots in the forest. Benefits of uluness ๐Ÿ™‚
image
I swapped my brogues out for my trainers because my toes were busted from walking so much the day before. I also wore toe socks thinking it could prevent my blistered toes from further rubbing against each other. It really felt so much better with toe socks on!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I bought a lot more later, so I could wear them all for the remaining days ๐Ÿ™‚
image
AIYA.
image
Wore my earrings out that day since I brought them. So not used to having earrings in my piercings for years, my ears bled and became crusty. Gross. No wonder it was so painful the whole day T__T
image
้ฑผxuan can swim anywhere.
image
So many selfie sticks on the floor LOOOOLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!
image
YOU SHALL NOT PASS.
image
Bird me.
IMG_5770
Bird them. The crows in Japan are really big!!! They contrast with the sakura a lot but it makes for a nice photo ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5772
The flowers in Japan are all so beautiful!!!! Would be so motivated to go jogging if Singapore had flowers like these and a temperature that doesn’t threaten heatstroke…
IMG_5774
IMG_5776
IMG_5778
No time to sit and admire flowers ;___;
IMG_5779
IMG_5780
Found our way out! Asked strangers for directions like an illiterate but they actually could speak English -___- They were so nice, going out of their way to help us! But… they gave us the wrong direction -___- Luckily we discovered a map that was easy to read lol…

IMG_5781
Meiji Shrine (ๆ˜Žๆฒป็ฅžๅฎฎ)!!!!!!!!!!
IMG_5783
It looks really grand and mesmerising in person but it dulls in comparison in pictures :/
IMG_5785
Really like this gate a lot. Don’t know why lol…
image
IMG_5787
IMG_5788
I like this place!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5791
IMG_5792
She never tried to tell me how bad buttoning my cardigan looks… It was really cold at Yoyogi Park ok??
IMG_5803
Please forget about my cardigan.
IMG_5797
You may keep this in your memory instead…
IMG_5804
Why is everything so beautiful???
IMG_5805
This led to Kiyomasa’s Well. We didn’t go in.
IMG_5809
Well… (that’s my well face) (please get it or GET OUT LOL) it costed 500 yen to enter…
Immediate revenge cos I got dirt on my trousers from kneeling for this photo -____- Sorry Kiyomasa I bet your well is great… So if any of you can fork out the 500 yen, please go in and improve your luck. Maybe then your pants will remain clean ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5811
IMG_5813
IMG_5814
IMG_5815
Sake barrels looking so cute and what they’re doing there explained.
IMG_5818
IMG_5820
!!!! Spy a cutie pie !!!!!!
IMG_5823
IMG_5825
IMG_5827
IMG_5828
That guy was just sitting there, blinking, breathing and,
IMG_5829
being the unfortunate subject of every tourist’s attention.
IMG_5832
Oh, and the little hearts in their roof wood are just so cute!!!!
Was buying some omamori and suddenly it grew really silent around us…
IMG_5834
BAM! Wedding!
IMG_5838
So beautiful!!!
IMG_5839
The topiaries ^___^
IMG_5840
IMG_5841
Wedding photoshoot! I’m not the only kaypoh ok!!!!!! There were about 15 other people crowded around. I was just looking at the kimono!!!
IMG_5842
Eh???? I took photo of the obi stuff at the back… Don’t tell me I deleted the photo to make space??? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5847
IMG_5848
IMG_5850
Then I ran away from this area.
Also didn’t know where Yuxuan was… So, I just ran away silently because !!!!!!
IMG_5851
OMG!!!
IMG_5853
If you noticed from the pictures above, they all came separately???
IMG_5857
So pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMG_5858
She was so sian and cheeky and superrrrrrrrrr cute!!!!!
IMG_5859
It looks like Shichi-Go-San Festival?? But it’s nowhere near November!!
IMG_5860
Sooooo cute!!!!!
IMG_5861
IMG_5862
IMG_5863
IMG_5864
IMG_5865
The little one was making everyone crowding around laugh. Me included ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5866
She was really restless but sooooo adorable ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5867
IMG_5868
IMG_5869
Hahahaha I couldn’t delete any photos because it’s too cute! And my photos weren’t blurry at all!!!
IMG_5873
Distracted by another wedding…
Then I found Yuxuan again!!
IMG_5876
Kimonos are amazing!! Look at the swaddle man!!!
IMG_5877
The toilets in Meiji Shrine are darn amazing!!!!!! Their cubicles were round and the door slides into the cubicle. Space optimising, gorgeous and futuristic layout!!!!!! And not to mention, spotless!!! Would’ve taken a picture of the interior but there were people inside and that’d be quite rude…

Walked to Harajuku to look for lunch and shopping!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5881
Gindaco is a popular takoyaki chain and I wanted to eat takoyaki so… this I had for lunch! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5883
Best damn takoyaki I have ever had!!!!! Huge chunk of octopus within the crunchy soft batter that came piping hot ;___; Sweet Jesus ;____;
Can’t wait to have them again from the Singapore branch; it probably wouldn’t taste as good but definitely better than whatever else I’ve been having!
IMG_5886
IMG_5889
IMG_5890
Aimlessly wandered onto Takeshita Street ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5892
They have 2 popular crรชpe stalls adjacent to each other!!! How to choose when you only want one???
IMG_5894
So I walked around looking at which wrappers more people were holding… cannot count T___T
IMG_5895
Yuxuan said Angels Hearts had more wrappers so ok…
IMG_5897
Strawberry cheesecake is usually my choice of crรชpe lol…
IMG_5900
Dayum!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Very delicious ^___^
IMG_5901
Wrapper is so cute too!! I hope I visit Japan soon again and get to try Marion Crรชpes (and stuff myself with lots of food that I did not eat this time)!!
image
Purikura centres are abundant and really cheap!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ 400 yen per machine!
image
The good thing is they print individual copies so you don’t have to cut up the sheet into tiny photos you can hardly see! But not knowing what they’re saying while there’s a time limit is so stressful! That’s why the first one came out it a wrong format -___-
image
Look at Yuxuan!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ๐Ÿ˜€
image
Tried to swag but the machine tried to cute me back. I lost the battle. PS I don’t pose like that (left image) ok!! I was just copying the example because I didn’t know what to do…
I liked shopping in Harajuku. I was skeptical at first because I thought it would be very Bugis Street and I have difficulty liking anything there. Takeshita Street had very nice and unique clothes (not just the Harajuku girls sort) and I bought a crazy awesome scarf thing for $50 with hardly any hesitation LOL.
Browsing stores offer comedy too, because of the slogan tee trend and their use of random English words that are seemingly cool.
image
Out notice put. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
image
Tear?????
image
I’m discover! ๐Ÿ˜€ HAHAHAHAHAHA ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_5902
Strolled around Omotesando for a bit, but rushed off because we’re always behind time on the itinerary…
Took a train to Tochลmae station, hoping to go to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (ๆฑไบฌ้ƒฝๅบ) and visit the South Observatory before night fell for a good view. The South Observatory closes at 6pm and we were just a little too late .___.
IMG_5906
Walked to Shinjuku station without the difficulty we faced the day before. Still really pissed about that…
Went to Muji, thought of having dinner at the cafรฉ but decided against it. Went on and played at the arcade for a bit because I’m a sucker for UFO catchers. I really have badly influenced Yuxuan.
image
Hehehehehe ^___^ Should’ve stopped at Kirimi-chan because I caught it with less than 500 yen. Gambling addiction? T_T
IMG_5987
Bought a Pasmo because I was running out of value in my Suica and I wanted to keep the cards lol .__.

Headed to Odaiba, and the ride on the Yurikamome line was very pleasant because the scenery was so night-vibrant!
IMG_5910
Odaiba is so bloody far we reached there around 9.30pm -___-
IMG_5912
Alighted beside Palette Town because we wanted to go on the Daikanransha (ๅคง่ฆณ่ฆง่ปŠ)!!!!
IMG_5915
It’s so pretty! I’m still bothered by how dark Japan gets when the sun goes down and early.
IMG_5917
Had dinner at First Kitchen first. Even its name told us to eat there first before riding the ferris wheel! Thank god because it was 10pm when we had this and they were about to close as we were finishing. If we’d miss it, that’d be no dinner till midnight???
IMG_5918
Nuggets were yummy!
IMG_5919
A slab of chicken, kinda fat, so-so…
IMG_5920
Butter shoyu potato! Sounded so promising but tasted ok only…
IMG_5921
Transparent car duh!!! 900 yen each ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5924
Yay! Check out the reflection of the ferris wheel on the building!
IMG_5930
IMG_5931
IMG_5932
I was standing most of the time and it got frightening halfway through because it was kinda shaky?
IMG_5938
The heart!!
IMG_5943
IMG_5945
Tokyo Tower?
IMG_5946
Beautiful circuit!
IMG_5950
IMG_5953
IMG_5955
IMG_5957
So difficult to capture it not over-exposed nor under-exposed.
IMG_5958
IMG_5959
I tried…
IMG_5963
IMG_5966
Oh ya, can I just express my disappointment in the Rainbow Bridge? The whole time I saw it it was Green Bridge.
IMG_5967
IMG_5968
There’s also a bridge with a random stick poking out of nowhere and at first glance I didn’t know it was a bridge until she told me.
IMG_5969
I think Odaiba is a place you have to spend at least half a day at, because there are so many areas I had hope to visit but we only made it to Daikanransha -____-
IMG_5970
I’m a Hatsune Miku who can’t sing lol. Anyway, spent so much time in the arcade again… I had terrible luck and spent 2,500 yen on capsules and catching one small shiba inu. Thing about UFO catchers is, if you don’t catch anything, you lose! So you have no choice but to leave with at least one thing.
IMG_5972
Then we left because it was 11pm zzz -___- normally at this timing we’re heading back to the apartment or heading out to look for supper -____-
IMG_5973
Goodbye disappointing Green Bridge.
IMG_5974
You can also see here that Yuxuan uses her phone a lot. ๅพˆๆœ‰้’ฑ man.

It was late but the day(/night) didn’t end when we reached Shibuya past midnight lol. Will continue in the next post!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 3 (continued)

IMG_5626
We went to Roppongi!
IMG_5627
Walked around and found the Roppongi Roppongi thing… But we were lost. Where is everything???
IMG_5628
We all by now know that I suck reading maps for this trip (I’m usually not too shabby at navigating). So we walked around aimlessly along some road, not knowing what to do…
IMG_5629
Found Hard Rock Cafe!! Yuxuan has a staff card and we got pins at 50% off ๐Ÿ˜€ YAY ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5630
Walked past a mart and was reminded that I wanted to treat myself to strawberries ;__; I DIDN’T!! ;___; I always am too far from the apartment to buy it back for supper!!! T___T

It was 2pm and Yuxuan cued lunch. I really don’t know how I could be so preoccupied that I put off eating (especially in Japan???) ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5632
Went into Komoro Soba since we walked past it earlier on and didn’t want to waste time exploring further.
IMG_5636
Oyako don and zaru soba set!!! ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5635
Yummy! Actually I’m appalled that my favourite Ootoya that I frequent in Singapore have food that taste better than most of the food I had in their own country! But it’s really so much more affordable here ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_5634
Soba was delicious!! Halfway through I was very stuffed but I don’t waste food so I ate them all ๐Ÿ˜€
There’s that little red pot of unknown liquid with the set and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do with it… so… I didn’t touch it. What is that??

IMG_5637
Roppongi is confusing… We were lost most of the time -__-
IMG_5638
Cute tiny little puppy!!!!!!!
IMG_5639
Then a staff approached me and said photography was not allowed ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but the other people in the pet store were also taking photos!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ So many cute pets in there but you can’t see it here now ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Ok then we gave up trying to explore this area and headed to Shinjuku.

We spent a lot of time figuring out how to get out of Shinjuku station -____-
But it was a nice place to be lost! Lots of food everywhere!!! Didn’t buy because I didn’t want to carry so many things while we were walking around…
IMG_5640
Pretty!!!
IMG_5641
Looks so good!
IMG_5642
Wanted to buy this so much but I was so full from lunch!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Next time I should stay in Shinjuku when I travel to Tokyo because ekiben land.
IMG_5643
Finally got out!!!!
IMG_5645
Shopped around some places like Lumine Est and Takashimaya and decided that Shinjuku was too big and messy and confusing for our tired and aching legs T___T
IMG_5646

We spent about 2 hours trying to get back into Shinjuku station to look for directions to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (ๆฑไบฌ้ƒฝๅบ). For that I was rather angry T_T because we were tired and it was going to be dark soon!
Gave up trying to walk there and found a train that took us to Tochลmae station.
IMG_5647
Night scenery at observatories is not what I prefer ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5650
At the North Observatory while the cloudy evening approached. How to see Mount Fuji? T___T
IMG_5651
IMG_5653
It’s so dark I don’t really know what’s what…
IMG_5654
IMG_5655
There’s this building that looks like Big Ben, then there’s Tokyo Tower and Odaiba Palette Town’s Daikanransha.
IMG_5659
Bought a post card so that I could get these memorial stamps!!!
Only after this did I realise that train stations have their own stamps too!!! I love collecting stuff!! But I’ve already missed so many T_T
IMG_5698
Some stuff I bought at the souvenir shop at 202m lol and the pins I got at Hard Rock! ๐Ÿ™‚
I also love the quality of the coins/medallions, which were only 100 yen! You’ll soon see the depth of this love HAHAHA!!
IMG_5661
Bought this from a vending machine while waiting for a train back to Shibuya. It looked interesting and IT TASTES GREAT!!!!!

Looked for dinner around Shibuya and I was being quite picky that night so… it took really long.
image
Went into Parco because there was some sign that said the top floor had lots of food.
image
CCTV monitor = selfie opportunity! HAHAHAHA
Ok we left because none of them seemed appealing…

Looked for dinner while we were walking back to our apartment. We were exhausted and my feet were sooooo painful and blistered from excessive aimless walking!
IMG_5694
Saw this and YAKITORI!!!!!! I WANT TO EAT YAKITORI!!!!!!!
Also heard of Nanbantei before as they have an outlet in Singapore, so up we went! Took an escalator to the 2nd floor because my legs could hardly work anymore ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5665
Raw vegetables were appetisers. They are so delicious. How can RAW vegetables taste so good???
IMG_5683
IMG_5682
IMG_5668
Pork wrapped asparagus! SO YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMG_5675
Salmon ochazuke!!!!!! Puts the instant ones I’ve been enjoying at home to utter shame.
IMG_5680
Stuffed shiitake!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEAVENLY ;____;
IMG_5685
Then a staff came and told us we had to order a drink. Izakaya rules? So I got this grapefruit juice! Not bad.
IMG_5687
Momo and tsukune!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had one each. Don’t know why Yuxuan was scrimping on this amazing dinner place???
IMG_5691
The price is really off-putting until you taste it. It’s worth it, honestly.
That’s all I had and it amounted to about 3,500 yen for me. Crazy but worth it.
Please eat at Nanbantei when you see one!!! Trust me!!!!

IMG_5695
On the way back, saw this slanted Hachiko statue at Tower Records and I burst out laughing!!!
IMG_5699
I bought an apple baumkuchen from a Sanrio store at Shibuya 109 Men’s!! Mostly because the box looked really cute ๐Ÿ˜› and it was half-priced because it’s good till 6 April, so I wouldn’t feel so bad if I discarded it before finishing it.
IMG_5700
IMG_5701
It wasn’t very delicious lol… Quite disappointing after all that packaging goodness.
image
2am combini supper! I got Galbo Mini for half the price I paid for at the vending machine!!! #tiopian
Japan’s combini is great!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Next post will have pictures of super cute cutie pie!!!!!!!!!! And of course, some sakura. Stay tuned!

Day 3

Got out of our apartment and went to look for
IMG_5548
Hachiko!!!!!!!
We have yet to take a tourist shot with Hachiko so nobody really knows we’re in Shibuya. So we took advantage of the not-so-crowded early morning with good lighting.
IMG_5550
Was gonna grab onto Hachiko’s leg and be a bro but when I got there, there’s bird shit everywhere. So I’m just grasping onto stone (it’s not easy when you’re not a goat) so that I don’t fall off the ledge.

image
Don’t know where this was taken but ok!!
We were headed for Mitaka and because I was a lazy ass and found out there’s a line that takes us to Mitaka directly, we took a train towards that direction (bad planning).
IMG_5553
We alighted at Mitakadai station!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ But it was wrong ๐Ÿ˜€ It has Mitaka in it but it’s not anywhere near where we were going LOL so we’re like total losers waiting for the next train to alight at the next stop. Sorry…

Getting out of Inokashirakoen station was awesome!! It’s a residential area so the surroundings had a very different ambience from the busy cities we were frequenting.
IMG_5554
So many petals on the floor!!!! ^___^ There were strong winds every now and then too…
image
So I was busy filming the ground ๐Ÿ™‚ but every time the wind picks up, a plastic bag starts trying to blend in with the petals T_T it doesn’t.
IMG_5555
Super cute dog!! Have a video of it chasing the plastic bag hahahaha ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5556
THEN THERE WAS A SAKURA WHIRLWIND!!!!!!!!!! ^____^
IMG_5557
That Japanese man behind is totally not impressed. Must have had seen it every spring for decades.
IMG_5558
Everyone needs to get caught in one at least once in their lifetimes ๐Ÿ˜€
IMG_5564
Students came out from the station and did the same thing #magnesia

IMG_5565
Started looking around for breakfast.
IMG_5567
It was too early or something, the only shop sort of opened was a florist.
IMG_5568
And can I just say $2 for a pot of beautiful blooms is so affordable?????
IMG_5569
Retirement plan: move to Japan and build a garden + pond + everything
IMG_5570
So there really was nothing other than combini breakfast.

Bought oden and onigiri before walking into Inokashira Park (ไบ•ใฎ้ ญๆฉ่ณœๅ…ฌๅœ’).
IMG_5571
IMG_5572
IMG_5574
Very beautiful and relaxing place with very few people around.
IMG_5577
IMG_5578
IMG_5579
IMG_5580
Love it!
IMG_5581
It’s so uncrowded that we managed to find a vacant bench on which we had our breakfast.
IMG_5583
IMG_5584
DUCK!!!
IMG_5585

IMG_5597
The whole place is really so gorgeous ^__^

Finally found Ghibli Museum and I cry every minute I accept the fact that we didn’t manage to get tickets the day before T_____T
IMG_5600
I think everyone knows that I’m a huge Studio Ghibli fan and have watched every film (except My Neighbors The Yamadas) and some of my favourites multiple times.
IMG_5602
The amazing rooftop garden with all the Laputa stuff T__T
IMG_5604
IMG_5608
Totoro T___T
IMG_5606
Susuwatari T___T
IMG_5611
The dรฉcor was so elaborate everywhere and I’m still weeping over this tragedy.
IMG_5614
A glimpse of the Laputan robot T_T
IMG_5615
Straw Hat Cafรฉ T__T and the special beer inside (that I wanted to buy to not drink) T___T
Saw people exiting with souvenirs and I remembered that I wanted to buy the Studio Ghibli collection box set if there’s one T___T OMG T______T
IMG_5618
The T______T mainly comes from only me because despite repeatedly asking Yuxuan to watch their films she only watched one so she doesn’t really feel the T____T. Good for her I guess… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
IMG_5619
Even the bus stop sign spoil market.
IMG_5620
So we took a bus to Mitaka station.

IMG_5621
Circled the area FOR AN HOUR trying to look for a toilet.
It’s something I’m really not proud of. ๆœ‰้’ฑไนŸไธๆ˜ฏ่ฟ™ๆ ท่Šฑ็š„ is our motivation to never waste time in Japan but then this toilet thing. Walau…
Found one with a bidet so it’s not that bad. The one below the station was kinda rundown and only had squats!!
After that, we realised we should’ve just tapped in because there are always toilets inside stations -___-
IMG_5622
IMG_5623
Got this lemon, white peach & apple juice. Their large is our usual small ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It tastes quite nice except there’s way too much lemon ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

IMG_5625
Look at this cool stairs-climbing machine!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, abrupt ending to this post. Day 3 was a really badly-planned day, mainly because we didn’t get tickets to the museum and the itinerary had to be rearranged -___-
Next post would be all about us getting lost everywhere and finding really great dinner ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 2 (continued)

It was 8pm when we were heading to Asakusa to see Tokyo Skytree because it was dark out and it’s lit, isn’t it??
IMG_5519
Look at the cute wiggly stair rail!
Transferred to Tobu Skytree line to get to Tokyo Skytree station.
Now, I think that was really dumb T_T because if we went into the observatory, all we’d see is darkness and little blotches of light, and if we stood outside, we wouldn’t have a good view of the tower. We should’ve gone to Asakusa instead!! There’d be more to see I presume.
IMG_5522
Yup, our point of view.
IMG_5524
It’s nice and all but… ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Didn’t go up because entrance fee was close to 3,000 yen per pax so we’re like NOPE.

The trip here would’ve been a total bummer if it weren’t for the shops in Tokyo Skytree Town!!
There were lots of toys everywhere and a Tomica Shop and…
IMG_5525
GUDETAMA CAFร‰!!!!!!!!
IMG_5526
Wanted to eat everything but Yuxuan didn’t even want to eat so we couldn’t buy a bunch to share.
I was quite full from the street food although we didn’t even eat much T_T why T_T But for Gudetama I grew another stomach!
IMG_5527
Sooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!! ^___^
IMG_5528
ใใงใผใ†! Egg stick was very oily and not super yummy la… But cute!!!
IMG_5532
ใใงใ‚€ใ™ใณ! It was delicious until I bit into a ball of mayonnaise T___T Why does everyone keep hiding mayonnaise everywhere T_T I hate mayonnaise!!!!
image
image
Good time to use the Gudetama Line stickers ^___^

Lots of gashapon there too, so I got some Gudetama keychains. Was a little sad I couldn’t find the first series because I really liked the Gudetama man.

I fell in love the first time I heard this song after a Gudetama clip.
Anyway, I was a bad influence to Yuxuan and she spent a lot of money (more than I did) on toys. Every day.

Then we went back to the apartment.
IMG_5538
Can’t get enough of mosaic Astro Boy.
Eh????? We didn’t have supper that night??
Erm… well, this post was boring… Sorry ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
OMG found it!!!
IMG_5546
Got some oden from Family Mart! We found this place from aimlessly walking nearby our apartment late at night because 7-Eleven was sort of boring. There were Muji products and plants and cool stuff at this combini! ๐Ÿ™‚ Loved it!!!
IMG_5547
Anyway, the oden was delicious ^_^ Yuxuan was initially afraid of it. What??? -___- But she fell in love with it soon.

Ok, that’s all for now. Sorry it was still boring after the update lol…
Next post will be filled with pictures from a really beautiful relaxing stroll in a park and also a bunch of sadness that was inevitable ;__; yea…
